A dating expert has explained why women can’t get enough of Pete Davidson.
The former SNL star’s dating life is back in the headlines, this time thanks to his new romance with model Elsie Hewitt.
The new couple was recently spotted strolling through Glasgow, and in true Davidson fashion, he couldn’t resist cracking a joke as they wandered between the trees: “They have this s**t in the Bronx, you know.”
It's the latest chapter in the comedian’s long-running streak of high-profile romances, which include Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande, Margaret Qualley, and Emily Ratajkowski, leaving many once again wondering: What is it about the 31-year-old that women find so irresistible?
According to dating and relationship expert Amber Kelleher-Andrews, it all starts with his sense of humor.
“He makes a career as a comedian, he's a funny guy,” she told the Daily Mail. “And it turns out that people really like people who can make them laugh and feel like they're having a good time.”
It’s more than just cracking jokes, though. The expert pointed to actual science backing the power of laughter when it comes to attraction and even health.
“This is not a cliché. If you follow the science, research has proven that our attitude and state of mind is directly related to our overall health and wellness,” she explained.
“The International Journal of Medical Sciences, for example, discovered when researching 730 participants between the ages of 18 and 39, that one can physically ‘laugh yourself into a healthier person,'" she continued. “Similar studies have shown that laughter can improve a person’s lifespan by a whopping 20 per cent.”
Still, being funny isn’t always enough as Kelleher-Andrews made it clear that many comedians come off as “arrogant, sarcastic, intimidating, and guarded,” but Davidson's not like that.
She said he comes across as “comfortably charming” and “approachable,” adding that women feel like they can have an interaction with him and come away having been charmed and amused.
What really sets him apart, according to the dating expert, is how open he is emotionally. “Pete Davidson wears his heart on his sleeve,” she said. “He has been very open and candid about his difficult past, and because of this transparency women are drawn to his innocence.
"They want to 'help' him or 'fix' him. It is his cute puppy dog demeanor that gives him a genuine persona making him more relatable," she added.
There might be some other physical aspects playing in his favor, too, such as his looks and height.
