David Beckham has been pictured in a hospital bed by his wife after being left in "unbearable" pain.
The 50-year-old football icon was photographed lying in a hospital bed with his arm in a blue sling, managing a smile for the camera while recovering from surgery.
Victoria Beckham , 51, shared her support on Instagram, writing alongside a snap of David: “Get well soon daddy.”
In another photo, David was seen wearing a beaded bracelet that read: “Get well soon.”
While David didn’t reveal how the injury happened, a source told MailOnline that the former England captain underwent an operation to repair his wrist after breaking it during an England game 22 years ago.
David originally suffered the wrist injury in May 2003 during a friendly match against South Africa in Durban, and years later, scans revealed that a screw embedded in the wrist - meant to have dissolved - was still there, causing pain and discomfort.
The situation reportedly escalated to “unbearable” pain, leading David to have surgery to remove the screw.
This isn't the only current drama going on with the Beckhams.

In fact, rumors of a long-standing feud - particularly between Victoria and Nicola - have swirled ever since the wedding, with whispers growing louder last month when Brooklyn and Nicola were noticeably absent from David's lavish 50th birthday bash in London.
Sources say Victoria was gutted by their absence.
“Victoria dislikes Nicola intensely and it’s been war behind the scenes pretty much ever since the wedding. It’s always been a tug of war about Brooklyn, and Victoria has not wanted to let go,” an insider claimed to the Daily Mail.
The source added: “Victoria feels he has been absorbed into the Peltzes and that his life is all about that family... Even when Nicola and Brooklyn went out to Paris for Victoria’s fashion show, they stayed with her family because her mother likes to go to the couture shows.”
The insider claimed the feud has been weighing heavily on Victoria, calling it her “worst nightmare.”
Brooklyn addressed the rumors in a Glamour interview, saying: “Don’t listen to all the nonsense. Keep your head down, work hard, stay friendly. There will always be people who talk. The important thing is that we’re happy together.”
