Diplo 'posts selfie with Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry' after claiming he dated them both
DJ Diplo has raised eyebrows once again, this time after making a bold claim during a podcast appearance that he once dated both pop star Katy Perry and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
He's even posted an old selfie that he took with Trudeau, as Perry appears in the background.
The unexpected snapshot stirred up even more attention after Diplo's bold claim during a podcast appearance. The DJ was discussing the newly public romance between Perry, 41, and Trudeau, 53, on the Smart Girl Dumb Questions podcast. "And now Katy Perry is dating Justin," he said. "Pretty fire." After a brief pause, he quipped, “I did date Trudeau too. That was a weird one though. I'm not into politicians."
During his appearance on the Smart Girl Dumb Questions podcast, the 46-year-old DJ was discussing the recent news about Perry and Trudeau when he jokingly mentioned, “I did date Trudeau too.”
Diplo went on to explain, "That was a weird one though, because I’m just not into politicians." While many listeners took the remark seriously, the podcast later clarified that Diplo was just joking, adding that he had never actually dated Trudeau.
Despite the playful claim about Trudeau, there’s no joke about Diplo’s history with Perry. The two were romantically linked in 2014, after being spotted together at several public events including Coachella and various industry gatherings.
Sources at the time described their connection as having "obvious chemistry," although others insisted they were simply friends. Diplo later humorously responded to Perry ranking him third in a "sex Olympics" game with James Corden, joking on Twitter, "I won the bronze in sex Olympics."
