Dolly Parton's sister has become the latest person to speak out in defense of the iconic country music star.
Over Thanksgiving, many American viewers were gripped by the sight of seeing the 77-year-old '9 to 5' singer don a cheerleader outfit to perform at the halftime show for the Commanders-Cowboys game in Dallas.
Donning the Cowboy's blue and white colors, Parton looked sensational as just paired the cheerleader outfit with a flesh-colored rhinestoned bodysuit. Check out her incredible outfit below:
Dolly's glamorous wig, energetic performance, and figure-hugging outfit left many astonished viewers googling how old Parton actually is!
However, despite many fans adoring the singer's choice of attire, there were some critics who believed Parton should have "dressed her age".
"She looks RIDICULOUS. And it was horrific lip-synching! She could have wore something similar but that looks classy for her age. She looks like a CLOWN," one X user wrote.
And another added: "I honestly don't care what Dolly Parton does. I have no desire to tell anyone how to dress. However, if I were asked my opinion then I'd have to say no, she should dress her age. A 77 year old woman shouldn't be dressing like that."
Fortunately, one person who was quick to stand by Dolly was her younger sister, Stella Parton.
For those who may not know, 74-year-old Stella is a music star in her own right, releasing over 20 albums over her decades-long career. She is perhaps best known for the 1975 country single 'I Want to Hold You in My Dreams Tonight'.
After seeing a lot of the debate surrounding her sister's Thanksgiving outfit, Stella took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share her thoughts... and she didn't hold back!
"I personally thought my big sister Dolly was cute as hell in her Dallas Cowboys cheerleading costume at the half time show on Thanksgiving," Stella wrote. "To those of you being so critical of a 77 year old kicking up her heels, I say f**k yourself. Shame on you not her."
The response to Stella's support for her sister has been overwhelming, with many fans congratulating the star for standing by her family and defending women of a certain age.
"Your sister KILLED it in that Dallas Cowboy cheerleader outfit! She had fun and looked damned good! Good on her for doing what she wants to," one person replied.
A second added: "Your sister looked amazing in that costume and far better than most of us decades younger. I can only imagine it is jealousy. I think Dolly looks prettier than ever."
"Both you and Dolly are amazing; keep on showing people how it's done," another added.
