Elon Musk has commented on the high-profile defamation trial between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp for the first time.
Per The New York Post, the Tesla CEO was rumored to have been romantically involved with Heard after the pair first met on the set of Robert Rodriguez's 2013 film Machete Kills.
A source told People in 2017 that Musk had started to pursue the Aquaman star "romantically" and that the billionaire was attracted to Heard's "edginess".
However, despite being photographed holding hands on occasion and Heard sharing a cheeky snap of her lipstick on Musk's cheek during an event in 2017, the couple never fully announced their relationship publicly.

And, as many of you may know, 36-year-old Heard is currently embroiled in a high-profile defamation lawsuit against her ex-husband, Johnny Depp.
The 58-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star is suing his ex-wife for $50 million after she referred to herself as a "public figure representing domestic abuse" in an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post back in 2018.
Despite not being mentioned by name in the op-ed, Depp has repeatedly denied the allegations that he was physically violent toward his ex-wife, and his lawyers claim the article resulted in the actor losing work.
Heard is countersuing for $100 million - claiming she was only ever violent against Depp in self-defense or defense of her younger sister, per NBC News, and for comments made by Adam Waldman, Depp's former lawyer.

Musk has been mentioned on numerous amid legal disputes between Heard and Depp.
During Depp's libel case against UK tabloid The Sun, texts were reportedly read out in court in which Depp accused Heard of having an affair with the billionaire, in which he referred to the SpaceX founder as "Mollusk".
Additionally, earlier this month when Heard was called out by Depp's lawyers for failing to donate $7 million to charity, the actress revealed that Musk had "made a donation in [her] honor".
Depp was also seen smirking when Heard's lawyers accused him of being "obsessed" with Musk.
Now, Musk has responded to the ongoing defamation trial for the first time.
MIT scientist and podcast host Lex Fridman recently took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the trial. Fridman tweeted: "My takeaways from Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial:
"1. Fame is one hell of a drug (for some).
"2. Psychiatrists & lawyers come in drastically varying levels of skill.
"3. Lying to millions of people is something humans are capable of.
"4. Love can be messy.
"5. Mega pint of wine."
Point number five is presumably a reference to the video below, which was shown in court by Heard's lawyers:
In response to Fridman's tweet, Musk shared his own thoughts on both Depp and Heard.
"I hope they both move on," Musk tweeted. "At their best, they are each incredible."
The jury for the trial is now deliberating on the verdict.
