A viral Usher fan who was removed from the stage during a recent concert in Nashville claims her reaction would have been completely different if Chris Brown had been the one dancing with her.
The concert-goer, identified as Gabrielle Cheyenne, drew widespread attention online following her noticeably awkward response to Usher’s seductive choreography.
The incident occurred during a stop on The R&B Tour, a concert series co-headlined by Usher and Brown. After noticing that Cheyenne did not seem to enjoy the close interaction, the 47-year-old singer quickly pulled away and escorted her off the stage. The moment quickly generated significant buzz across social media platforms.
Speaking with TMZ on Monday, Cheyenne explained that her subdued reaction was not meant as a personal insult to the R&B star, but rather reflected her personal musical preference. She revealed that she attended the event specifically to see the other headliner on the ticket.
“Me, solely, I went to the concert for Chris Brown, it’s nothing against Usher,” Cheyenne stated during the interview. She made it clear that her energy would have been entirely different if the 37-year-old Brown had been the one performing the steamy routines. Both artists are well-known for bringing female fans on stage for intimate performance segments.
“So, of course, it would have been a different reaction with Chris Brown,” she continued. “It wouldn’t have been the stiffness or whatever the internet is portraying.”
Cheyenne explained that tour staff approached her and her mother before the concert began, upgrading their floor seats to the VIP section. However, she noted that nobody gave her specific instructions about what the upgrade entailed.
She stated she would have turned down the offer had she known she was being selected for Usher's portion of the show instead of Brown's. She emphasized, “It was never my intention to rile all these people up and ruin the moment,” while also mentioning that she has listened to Usher since childhood but simply prefers Brown. “I mean, I’ve been listening to his music since I was a little girl,” she said. “I know his music, but I can prefer one artist over the other.”
After facing intense criticism from defensive Usher fans online, Cheyenne took to social media to address the backlash directly. Commenters questioned why she agreed to walk onto the stage if she did not want to participate in the performance. Cheyenne strongly rejected those critiques in a blunt Facebook post.
“First off NOBODY is declining to go on stage,” she wrote. “I looked good asf, you thought I wasn’t gonna let THOUSANDS of people see me?? On the big screen, where you bitches will never be????”
She went on to defend her presence in the front row, writing, “My mom and I had FLOOR SEATS. Their team approached us and moved us to VIP before the show even started !! PRETTY PRIVILEGES something you hoes will never know about!!”
Cheyenne concluded her fiery social media message by writing, “Y’all wanted me to get up there and f**k him atp ?? …. That’s the most exciting thing that would’ve happened in y’all little ass lives !! F**k yall, DISRESPECTFULLY.”
Despite the online drama and the onstage ejection, there appeared to be no lasting tension behind the scenes, as Cheyenne was spotted posing for a photograph backstage with Usher’s wife, Jennifer Goicoechea.
