The celebrated fashion designer Kate Spade has been found dead in her New York apartment at the age of 55. NYPD investigators are currently treating her death as a suicide case.
Spade's remains were found at her Park Avenue apartment at approximately 10:20 local time on Tuesday June 5 by her housekeeper.
Spade was best known for the expensive line of luxury handbags which bore her name, but was also responsible for the design and creations of clothes, shoes, and jewellery.
Her company was first founded in 1993; but Spade sold it in 2007 to rival New York designer Coach last year in a deal worth $2.4 billion. Spade New York boasts more than 140 outlets across the United States, and more than 175 shops internationally.
