Hilary Duff is back to full Lizzie McGuire blonde for return to Disney
Last month, 90's kids around the world were ecstatic to learn that Hilary Duff would be reprising her role as Lizzie McGuire in a reboot of the early 00's show.
In fact, Hilary herself made an appearance at Disney’s D23 Expo to announce the news, revealing she will play the beloved character as she goes about life in New York City.
Speaking at the event, Duff said: "Just like me and everybody who loved Lizzie and grew up with her, Lizzie also grew up. She is older, she is wiser, she has a much bigger shoe budget, which is exciting. She has her dream job. She has the perfect life."
And in preparation for the upcoming Disney+ series, the 31-year-old actress has now had her already-blonde locks styled so that they resemble her middle school character's own blonde tresses.
Just take a look at this:
Hairstylist Nikki Lee, who did Hilary's hair for the reboot, wrote on Instagram: "Never in a million years did I think I would be doing Lizzie’s colour!"
She also thanked Hilary for "trusting me to create the perfect blonde for the next chapter of Lizzie Mcguire!"
And Nikki was kind enough to give us the low-down on how to achieve the look:
"I did a full head highlight using @joico Blonde Life Powder Lightener with 30 Volume LumiShine Developer at the root, 20 volume through the mid-shaft, and 10 volume through the ends when needed.
After she lifted to a pale yellow I did a root tap about 2 inches out at the bowl using Joico LumiShine Demi-Permanent Liquid 6N with 5 Volume LumiShine Developer"
"For her hairline and a bit of the midshaft, I used Joico LumiShine Demi-Permanent Liquid equal parts 6N + 8N with 5 Volume LumiShine Developer
My all over toner was Joico LumiShine Demi-Permanent Liquid 9NV + 10N + 10SB with 5 Volume LumiShine Developer. I applied this while the root tap was still on and let everything process together for 15mins."
In addition to the reboot, all 65 episodes of the original will be available to stream on Disney+.
The streaming platform officially launches in the US on November 12.
