When relationships end, one question often follows: Who keeps the friends?
For actors Hugh Jackman and his ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness, reports seem to suggest many of their mutual friends have remained firmly on Deborra’s side.
Among them is another big name in Nicole Kidman, who has reportedly made her loyalties clear. According to insiders, Nicole allegedly avoided Hugh and his girlfriend Sutton Foster at this year's Met Gala, a move that was interpreted by some as a sign she is "firmly team Deb."
The reported snub comes as Deborra-Lee continues to navigate life after her split from Hugh. Sources told Heatworld that Nicole and Deborra have grown even closer in recent months, bonding over their respective relationship breakups and forming what has been described as a "first wives' club."
However, insiders allege Hugh is becoming frustrated by the situation and believes Nicole may be influencing public perceptions behind the scenes. According to reports, he has a simple message for the actress: "Stop stirring."
A source claimed Hugh was disappointed by Nicole's behavior at the Met Gala.
"Hugh was upset that Nicole avoided him at the Met Gala," an insider told Heatworld. "That was very fishy to him."
The source added that Hugh later heard reports that Nicole had been making it known she supported Deborra.
"That did not sit well with Hugh at all."
According to the insider, Hugh feels Nicole may have encouraged Deborra to become more outspoken following their divorce.
"He's burning mad and is convinced that Nicole has been winding Deb up behind the scenes."
The source further claimed Hugh was surprised by what he viewed as a sudden change in attitude.
"She's gone from being very cooperative, and even agreeing to meet up with him and Sutton for a friendly lunch, to suddenly going on what looks to him like some snarky rampage."
Hugh and Deborra announced their separation in September 2023 after 27 years of marriage. At the time, they released a joint statement saying they had been "blessed to share almost three decades together" and were choosing to separate to pursue "individual growth."
Their statement added that they would move forward with "gratitude, love, and kindness."
However, tensions reportedly increased after Hugh began dating Sutton Foster. The pair, who had starred together in Broadway's The Music Man, went public with their relationship in January 2025.
Speculation surrounding the timeline of their romance intensified after Deborra released a statement following the finalization of her divorce.
"My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal," she said.
She continued: "It's a profound wound that cuts deep."
Deborra also said the experience had taught her valuable lessons and helped her remain true to her "integrity, values and boundaries."
Although she never mentioned Hugh or Sutton by name, many interpreted her comments as a reference to the end of her marriage.
Meanwhile, sources insist Hugh strongly rejects any suggestion that his relationship with Sutton began before his marriage had effectively ended.
"The truth is his relationship with Deb was long over by the time he and Sutton got together," an insider claimed.
According to the source, Hugh feels unfairly portrayed by the narrative surrounding the split.
"It's very hurtful to have his character and integrity questioned with no real chance to defend himself."
The insider added that Hugh does not expect Nicole to choose between him and Deborra but would like the opportunity to explain his side.
"He wants to plead his case with Nicole and assure her that he means no harm."
Ultimately, the source said Hugh has one goal: "All he wants is for Nicole to stop treating him like the bad guy."
