Following the backlash to a video that showed them kissing, the Island Boys twins have hit back saying that it's "not that big of a deal".
As previously reported, The Island Boys, recognized by their birth names Franky (Kodiyakredd) and Alex Venegas (Flyysoulja), initially gained prominence on social media after a video showcasing their rap skills gained widespread attention in 2021.
Recent weeks have seen the duo embroiled in controversy when a video of them sharing a kiss circulated online. This eyebrow-raising gesture was intended to promote their OnlyFans account, though numerous fans expressed their shock and disapproval at witnessing the intimate moment between blood relatives.
Flyysoulja has since come out as gay in response to the video, with a recent TikTok live stream making rounds on social media platforms.
In the video, Flyysoulja asserts: "I’m a top, I’m never a bottom, I’m a top you understand what I’m saying? I’m like that, for real. You gotta support me because you feel me: I like men and it is what it is. I’m a top, but I’m a top at the end of the day that’s just what’s going on."
The brothers have since appeared on Adam22's podcast to explain the infamous kiss and discuss the backlash they have received in the wake of it.
Adam discussed whether the duo was "disgusted" by the kiss, expressing that the thought of kissing a friend isn't something that he cares to entertain.
"We're twin brothers, we came out of the womb together, we grew up together. It's not really disgusting if it's twins," Kodiyakredd said. "Your friend, you don't really know him like that."
The comment continued: "We kind of just made out or whatever, we kissed and then we just like look the other way for a few minutes and couldn't like, look at each other, but it wasn't that big of a deal - just a kiss."
Following the viral kiss, the Island Boys began trending on Twitter, and Kodiyakredd encouraged fans to subscribe to their OnlyFans account for more content, a move that garnered mixed reactions given the unique nature of their relationship.
Addressing the situation, Flyysoulja later clarified that the kiss was merely a publicity stunt designed to attract attention. He humorously remarked, "Hahahaa I got everyone paying attention I knew it [crying face emojis]. So it took a kiss for everybody to pay attention? I guess selling your soul is real."
Previously, Flyysoulja spoke to TMZ, emphasizing: "We’re both straight males and kissing is not counted as a sexual act," before revealing his true sexual orientation as gay.
He also highlighted his commitment to community service, citing instances of helping the homeless in videos he had previously shared. Regrettably, these efforts had gone largely unnoticed in the shadow of the recent controversy.
It was also revealed that Kodiyakredd recently experienced a seizure, which Flyysoulja had revealed on Instagram. Sharing the news, Flyysoulja posted at the time: "Redd had a seizure [broken heart emoji] I can’t rn."
