Rapper Jelly Roll stepped into the spotlight as a guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, August 24, using his opening monologue to share personal updates before shifting his focus to President Donald Trump.
The musician spoke openly about his own major weight loss journey. Over recent years, he successfully dropped approximately 300 pounds through a dedicated fitness routine and lifestyle changes.
However, the conversation quickly turned to recent headlines regarding Trump's physical health reports.
A report published by the Washington Post revealed that the 80-year-old president weighed 238 pounds at his May physical exam, marking a 23-pound increase over three years and leading medical experts to point out associated health risks.
Addressing the crowd, Jelly Roll compared his personal achievements to the public figures in the news.
“After his last physical, we found out Trump gained 14 pounds, which means he is now tipping the scales at almost 240. That’s crazy,” he said.
He continued: “Think about this, y’all, in the last few years I’ve lost 300 pounds. That means I’ve lost an entire Donald Trump. And let’s be honest, based on his approval ratings, it seems like most of the country wants to do the same thing.”
Jelly Roll sarcastically suggested that people should go easy on Trump because the president would never criticize others over their appearance, leading into a video montage of Trump making similar comments about people in the public eye.
“Well, if that ain’t the pot calling the kettle fat,” Jelly Roll joked. “Mr. President, from one fat pig to another, take it from me that physical fitness is very important. And trust me, you’ll be happy to see your penis again.”
The humor drew a swift response from official channels. In a statement to the Washington Post, White House spokesman Davis Ingle defended Trump's physical and mental stamina.
“President Trump’s sharpness, unmatched energy, relentless work ethic and historic accessibility stand in stark contrast to what we saw during the last administration when Democrats and the legacy media intentionally covered up Joe Biden’s serious mental and physical decline from the American people,” Ingle said. He added: “President Trump is the sharpest and most accessible President in American history who is working nonstop to solve problems and deliver on his promises.”
The hosting appearance marked the singer's first high-profile project since he announced an upcoming break from his busy touring schedule. During a concert at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah, on July 28, he addressed fans regarding his future plans.
"This has truly been a lifetime experience for me,” he said to the audience. “I go to Colorado Springs and do my last show for a year or two. I'm fixing to take some time off and heal. I love you all so much. Thank you for the opportunity.”
