Jennifer Lopez recently attempted to start a dance challenge, but unfortunately, Jenny from the Block's attempt did not go down as planned.

The star's 'Love Don't Cost a Thing challenge' was called "yet another tone deaf moment from Jenny from the Block" after it was posted to Twitter.

One Twitter user wrote: "You want us to rush to the beach in a [pandemic] to have our friends film us throwing away good jewelry? I'm so confused."

This comment was so popular that, at the time of writing, it has garnered more than 25.6K likes - more than what was received by Lopez's original post.

The video was created to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 51-year-old's second album, J. Lo, as well as its lead single 'Love Don’t Cost a Thing'.

In the song's original music video, Lopez sheds a number of possessions - including a watch and sunglasses - as she dances along the beach and clearly thought it would be a good basis for a new viral dance challenge.

However, despite the fact that there was logic behind Lopez's video, social media users were in agreement that the timing was completely wrong.

One wrote: "Jennifer, we're in the middle of a pandemic."

A second added: "Jlo we supposed to throw our valuables on the beach? Is the challenge to find it after we throw it bc we can’t afford to replace it?!? What is the instructions?!?!????? [sic]"

A third chimed: "Maam this is tone deaf. Can't nobody afford to be throwing their stuff on the beach. We're in a panoramic [sic]."

A fourth wrote: "Ummm Chicago about to get a foot a snow.... I don't see anyone doing this on the 63rd street beach at the moment.... [sic]"

The dance challenge was also slammed by other social media users as being "inauthentic".

One Twitter user pointed out that while record labels might be behind dance challenges, part of their success is that they appear to be organic as they are not fronted by the artists themselves.

In a nutshell, celebrities continue to be unrelatable during the pandemic.
