It has now been a year since XXXTentacion was fatally shot in Florida (18 June 2018), and fans have been honouring the late rapper on social media. One of the more high-profile fans to do so is Lil Pump, a friend of the SAD! rapper.
In fact, Lil Pump even goes as far as to declare XXXTentacion - real name Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy - as the "The Tupac Of Our Generation", in a video honouring the talented performer a year after his untimely death.
Lil Pump posted the emotional video - in which he cries while listening to XXXTentacion's record Revenge - to his Instagram story.
This is the moment Lil Pump refers to XXXTentacion as the "the Tupac of our generation":"Deadass though, X is the 2Pac of our generation," he says in the Instagram video. "No cap."
Unsurprisingly, the comparison proved to be quite controversial amongst hip hop fans.

And incredibly - taking into account that Tupac is considered one of the greatest rappers of all time - X himself had no time for comparisons made between himself and the rap legend.
Months before his death, in fact, X shot down one such comparison, made by DJ Akademiks, and stated that he was "better than Tupac".
He made this rather bold statement in an interview from January 2018. X was asked by DJ Akademiks if he, much like Tupac, had any intentions of trying his hand at acting.
"I’m better than Tupac, bro. Please don’t compare me to him," he said. "Please don’t. Tupac can’t make rock music. Tupac couldn’t do that. Tupac didn’t do that. Tupac was a dancer and a poet and a rapper."

Onfroy was shot dead last year in Fort Lauderdale at the age of 20. He did not live to see his son, Gekyume Onfroy, arrive into the world just three days after what would have been his 21st birthday.
The young rapper faced a number of felony charges before his death - including aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, gun possession, robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
