Lip reader 'reveals' Timothée Chalamet's stern 6-word warning to sister over Kylie Jenner at Oscars
Timothee Chalamet was allegedly caught issuing a warning to his sister over his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, as they attended the Oscars.
The 98th annual Academy Awards was held on Sunday, March 15, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California, and all the biggest stars were in attendance.
Timothee, 30, was up for an Oscar for his performance in Josh Safdie's sports drama Marty Supreme, which was his third Oscar nomination.
He took to the red carpet with Kylie, 28, who he has been dating for three years, and his sister Pauline was also in attendance to support him.
According to lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling, as reported by The Mirror, Timothee appeared to share a pointed message to Pauline about Kylie as the group interacted at the awards.
At one point, Timothee was seen turning to his sister, as Nicola claims he asked: "Where are you sitting?", as she points to her sear.
Kylie, who appeared emotional, then reached out to shake Pauline's hand and seemed to praise her outfit, before sharing a hug.
According to Nicola, Timothee then asked Pauline after posing for photos together: "How you doing?," before leaning in and allegedly whispering: "Could you go easy on her? I want you to go easy on her," as Pauline responds: "Okay."
Some viewers took this to mean it was likely the first time that Kylie and Pauline had met, commenting: "Uhm awkward. Have they never met before?"
Others added: "Did they ever met before? It‘s giving 'Nice to meet you'," and: "Did they not know they would see each other lol."
It wasn't the only awkward moment Timothee appeared to face on the night, as he was also the subject of one of host Conan O'Brien's jokes.
Conan took aim at Timothee - who recently sparked some serious backlash after making disparaging comments about opera and ballet.
During an interview with Variety alongside fellow actor Matthew McConaughey last month, Timothee had said: "I don't want to be working in ballet or opera or things where it's like, 'Keep this thing alive even though no-one cares about this any more.'"
He quickly added: "All respect to the ballet and opera people out there. I just lost 14 cents in viewership. I just took shots for no reason."
Conan made light of the moment, joking in his monologue: "I should tell you, security is tight tonight, I’m told there are concerns about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities. They’re just mad you left out jazz."
Timothee and Kylie have made several awards show appearances together in recent months, after their debut at the 70th David Di Donatello Awards in May 2025.
The actor is believed to have been dating the mom of two for around three years in total.
