'Love Island' host Maya Jama speaks out after dividing opinion over braless look on Netflix red carpet
Star-studded glamor took over London as celebrities gathered for the world premiere of the second season of Guy Ritchie's hit Netflix show, The Gentlemen.
Fans can catch all eight episodes when the action-comedy lands on the streaming platform this week, starting September 3.
Making her acting debut in the upcoming series, Love Island host Maya Jama stepped away from her usual ITV dating show aesthetic in favor of a striking, high-fashion presentation.
The 32-year-old television personality turned heads along the green carpet in a daring black leather outfit worn without a bra.
Her floor-length ensemble made a bold statement, constructed with narrow panels of studded black leather that glimmered under the venue lights. The revealing dress highlighted her silhouette with a halter-neck design, thick straps across the chest, a delicate waist belt, and a sleek pencil skirt.
To complete the style, the host wore her long dark hair in a pin-straight middle part while keeping her makeup refined with a luminous base, subtle eye shadow, and nude lips.
During the event, the star also showed off her playful side by taking a swing at an arcade punching bag inside the venue, raising her arms in celebration after earning a high score on the machine.
Social media reactions split over the revealing style
Following her appearance at the event, the presenter posted a series of images from the night on her personal account.
She captioned the post: “The gentlemen premier last night🖤Series 2 out now 👀 my lil acting debut, hope you love it !”
Supporters quickly flooded the comment section to praise her red carpet presence, with one fan writing: “Absolutely unreal proud of you 😍😍😍😍😍”
Another complimentary user added: “One of the most beautuful women, we have in the UK!”
The response on X was far more critical, as several users took issue with the risqué outfit choice. One critic commented: “Is there anything worse that a reality idiot attention seeker?”
A second user voiced similar frustration, posting: “Why do these type of women always have to be half naked? It looks so uncomfortable. Does she really need to do this now she's forged out a decent career?”
Stars react to royal casting rumors
The London event also brought questions regarding potential future casting choices for the series, including speculation that Meghan Markle might join the show for a third season.
Leading man Theo James dismissed the claims during an interview with the Press Association.
He said: "I think it's spurious rumors. I think she'd fit in well because she's actually from part of the royal family, but no, I think the practicalities of that are impossible."
Fellow cast member Ray Winstone, who plays drug empire patriarch Robert "Bobby" Glass, also addressed the ongoing rumors surrounding the show's future.
He said: "I don't even know if I'm doing (the third season)."
