Marlins Man speaks out after being caught on camera ‘rizzing up’ Dua Lipa at Yankees game
A sports fan has gone viral overnight after being spotted next to one of the world's biggest pop stars at a baseball game.
Known online as Marlins Man, the US sports fanatic from North Miami Beach dominated people's timelines on X last night.
He first rose to fame in 2012 for showing up at major sporting events in all-orange Miami Marlins gear.
The baseball fan has been spotted at the Super Bowl, NBA Finals, World Series, Stanley Cup Final, and more over the years.
Real name Laurence Leavy, he is a lawyer by day and a viral sensation by night, with his seating placement at sports events often being in view of broadcast cameras, bringing attention to himself.
The 69-year-old was back in the spotlight again last night (October 7), after posting about who he was sitting with.
Marlins Man spotted with Dua Lipa
The American sports fan posted a snap with British artist Dua Lipa and her husband, actor Callum Turner.
While the celebrity super couple tied the knot earlier this year, Marlins Man admitted in the caption of his post that he didn't know who either of them was.
They were pictured at the MLB game between the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays, with the latter emerging victorious.
More than that, Marlins Man could be seen having a conversation with the 'Levitating' singer, as Barstool Sports posted a video saying: "Marlins Man is rizzing up Dua Lipa at a New York Yankees ALDS game. There are zero remaining sentences."
The video showed the sports fanatic having a conversation with the powerhouse couple, though in Leavy's own post, he shared more about the exchange.
"So I had no idea who this couple were and they were so nice and friendly to everyone," he wrote, along with a photo with the couple, snaps of the stadium, and a screenshot of the trio in the crowd.
He went on: "I told them I know sports, not music nor movies. They recently got married in June in Italy, I think. I wish them 50 years or more of happiness," he concluded in a heartwarming message.
Lipa is a three-time Grammy Award winner and a multi-time Billboard and iHeartRadio Music Awards winner in the US, but Marlins Man is a pure out-and-out sports fan at the end of the day.
Fan reaction to Marlins Man with the celeb couple
One humorous fan asked below his post: "Was she levitating or dancing the night away?"
Another wrote: "Really wholesome that they treated him like old friends instead of stars at a game."
A third added: "Baseball crowds are the only place left where you can just vibe with strangers and nobody asks what you do for a living. That's the whole dream right there."
"There’s something so nice about being in a baseball crowd where nobody cares what you do for a living, you’re all just there to have a good time," a viewer wrote.
