Devastated by the loss, Perry's family expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans worldwide. In a statement to People, they said: "We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother.

Fans paid their respects outside the iconic New York City apartment building featured in Friends, leaving heartfelt tributes to the actor. Bouquets and handwritten notes adorned the exterior, creating a poignant display in honor of the beloved star.

It has been a month since Perry's passing, and his family have released a further statement to Entertainment Tonight, which focuses on the important work of the Matthew Perry Foundation.

"It is important to us as a family to honor Matthew's legacy," the statement began. "The potential that the Matthew Perry Foundation has to help those suffering with this disease is something we are proud to bring to the world."

Keith Morrison, a Dateline journalist who is also Perry's stepfather, shared the link to the foundation and encouraged his followers to donate.

"This is not the sort of thing I commonly do, this pitch. But this year is different. And tomorrow is Giving Tuesday," he wrote on X. "Do what you can; he would have been grateful."

The foundation will carry forward Perry's mission of assisting addicts in overcoming substance abuse while upholding his legacy.

Perry had expressed: "I've had a lot of ups and downs in my life. But the best thing about me is that if an alcoholic or drug addict comes up to me and says, 'Will you help me?' I will always say, 'Yes, I know how to do that. I will do that for you, even if I can't always do it for myself!'"

The Matthew Perry Foundation, as detailed on its website, aims to honor the star's commitment to aiding those struggling with addiction. Perry's words and experiences will guide the foundation, driven by his passion to make a difference in as many lives as possible.

Perry had previously converted his former Malibu home into the Perry House, a retreat for men battling addiction. The facility combined a 12-step program with holistic therapies and meditation to support individuals on their journey to recovery.

Perry's autopsy has been concluded, but the official cause of death awaits the results of toxicology tests, a process that may take several weeks.
