It's official: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are withdrawing from their duties as senior Royals and retreating from the limelight.
Earlier this month, the couple released a public statement expressing their desire to spend more time in North America, in order to achieve a "geographic balance" that will enable the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to raise their son "with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity".
Despite the fact that the couple's decision seems to have been motivated by a need for privacy, the two of them are now under more media scrutiny than ever, with Meghan's fans and admirers keeping a close eye on her.
Following the recent negative headlines regarding Markle, people online are recirculating this video to prove that 'this is the real Meghan':For instance, this week a number of social media users have spotted an intriguing detail in a pair of earrings Meghan wore during her latest public appearance, which some people believe have a hidden meaning.
In an appearance at a talk for the charitable organization Justice for Girls, Markle was spotted wearing a tasteful pair of gold and diamond studs. However, those who looked closely saw that the sparkly decorations appeared to boast some powerful symbolism.
The earrings in question come courtesy of jewelry designer Emily Mortimer and cost approximately $778. The Hera Gold and Diamond Studs are fashioned from 14-carat gold and contain polished pavé diamonds.
As anyone who has studied their classics well will know, the earrings are named after the Greek goddess Hera: protector of women and responsible for marriages and births in antiquity.
Markle attended the event to celebrate inspirational young women, and so clearly the earrings are meant to reflect this.
Per Yahoo! News designer Mortimer recently commented: "I’m really honored to see The Duchess of Sussex wearing a pair of my earrings for the fourth time, this time from the new Hera collection. I admire how much Meghan is empowering women through her work with various charities and am so pleased she has chosen to wear earrings from a collection that was designed to celebrate all women."
