The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has continued to enchant and delight since its conception in 1997. Certainly, the Millennial generation grew up obsessed with the franchise: many of us have accounts on Pottermore - well aware of what house we would be sorted into if only we weren't muggles - and I even happen to know what my Patronus would be (it's a black cat, thank you very much).
Now, I don't know about you, but I have been known to get into heated debates with my friends whenever someone dares to insinuate that the Chamber of Secrets is too long, or when discussing the redeeming qualities of Slytherin house. But, there's one thing that no one ever disagrees with, and it's just how attractive Neville Longbottom is.
While Neville Longbottom - portrayed by Matthew Lewis - was known for being shy and bumbling in the Harry Potter books and films, it appears that he's truly blossomed. Puberty, folks, can do wonders.
I mean, just take a look at this:
But all of us Harry Potter fans are set to be disappointed, as Matthew Lewis got married to his fiancée Angela Jones this past weekend. And the ceremony and the newlyweds looked absolutely stunning.
In addition to the gorgeous Instagram pic of the couple, Matthew also took to Twitter to share the news in a hilariously tongue-in-cheek manner. "Not only did I miss @ArcticMonkeys in LA but they were performing in Italy at the same time we were there and my wife made me get married instead," he joked. "Fuming".
Matthew met Angela at a Wizarding World event at the theme park in Orlando in January 2016, and they got engaged the following December. I mean, where else would they meet?
A few years ago, Matthew's good looks even prompted a response from JK Rowling herself. After he appeared on Attitude magazine shirtless, the author of the Harry Potter series took to Twitter to write, "I will always support you whatever you want to do, Matthew. Now go put some clothes on."
Speaking to the Evening Standard about the raunchy shoot, Matthew said: "I was 21, I was like ‘yeah, this’ll be cool!’ It was never meant to be a ‘hey everyone, look at me!’ but it was nice to be able to go and be myself. And then obviously a lot of attention focused on it, which I didn’t expect at all. I’ve never considered myself to be good-looking at all. Just average."
The 28-year-old continued:
"The reaction was crazy – I turned my phone off for a couple of days, it was just a bit weird. It’s all nice stuff being said, I can’t complain about it, it’s very flattering. It’s just weird to have people talking about that.
"My mum, bless her, was not happy at all [about the cover]. My dad thought it was funny. But my mum is a magistrate and she was at the court and all of her colleagues who are magistrates were coming up to her going, ‘I saw your son’ and she hadn’t seen it at this point. She knew I’d done something for a magazine. Anyway, someone showed her and she was mortified. So I got bit of earache from her. Apart from that it was great."
Well, we all know who's going to get the "hottest alumnus" award at the 10 year Hogwarts reunion...
