Social media personality Perez Hilton is being kept apart from his three children after an episode that has left him hospitalized.
Hilton is currently being treated for physical injuries alongside mental health treatment, with details about his injuries emerging in recent days.
The 48-year-old sparked concerns among viewers after he appeared to be covered in blood and brandishing a knife while on TikTok live, telling viewers he wanted to take his own life on August 4.
Emergency services were called to his home, as a spokesperson for the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office confirmed to NBC News that there was an individual "who was livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media."
Hilton also claims to have a fragmented memory of that day, learning more about his actions as time goes on.
Almost a month on from the incident, the Daily Mail reports that the blogger has only spoken to children over the phone since being admitted to hospital.
The news outlet has reported that the popular blogger has not seen his children in person since going into hospital, though a Miami judge has reportedly approved supervised visits.
As per TMZ, two conditions must be met - the first is that a family member or therapist must supervise each meeting, while Hilton must agree to receive psychiatric clearance from a mental health professional before any visits.
According to The Mail, the blogger didn't receive this clearance last weekend.
His children, Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, eight, remain with their grandmother until conditions change.
Hilton reportedly only remembers parts of August 4, only recalling being at his home in Miami’s Westchester neighborhood, followed by disturbing flashes involving blood and a serious injury.
His next clear memory is waking up in a hospital bed, covered in scars and unable to understand what had happened.
Speaking to the Mail, a family friend said that Hilton still has extensive dressings as his wounds heal, explaining: “The cuts are bad. Still a lot of bandages.”
It's reported that doctors had to treat dozens of wounds following the harrowing incident, which allegedly left the blogger with numerous broken bones and limited mobility.
“We don’t need to traumatize them all over again,” the friend said about a potential in-person meeting between Hilton and his children.
His family want to give time for the reported wounds on his face, neck and arms to heal, as the friend stated: “We’re hoping they can heal a bit more this week before he sees the kids.”
Police made their way into Hilton's home on August 4, after all three of his children were reportedly taken out of the property during the livestream, which was ended by TikTok.
His sister was also at the home, as she recalled some of the signs she noticed from her brother beforehand, before leaving with the children.
Hilton entered the hospital under Florida’s Baker Act, which allows authorities to detain someone temporarily in the midst of a mental health crisis.
