Mickey Gooch Jr. unexpectedly revisited one of the most candid admissions from Rebel Wilson's memoir, in which she disclosed that she lost her virginity to him at the age of 35.
The 41-year-old comedian and actor was a guest performer at Celebrity Autobiography, a long-running comedy show in which celebrities perform readings from published memoirs.
The event took place at New York City's Shubert Theatre and featured comedian Kathy Griffin among the performers.
However, Gooch was reportedly unaware that he would be taking part in a reading from his ex's autobiography, Rebel Rising, which includes passages in which she revealed that he was the man she lost her virginity to.
After Gooch was introduced on stage, Griffin began reading from a chapter of Wilson's memoir titled 'Late Bloomer'.
The chapter recounts the Pitch Perfect star's relationship with the comic and includes a direct reference to their intimate history.
"Micks, I know this might be news to you if you are reading this, but yes, I lost my virginity to you," Griffin read, per The New York Post. "And a great sh*g you were."
Gooch responded to Wilson's praise with a playful "Ayyy!" and punched the air, drawing laughter from the audience.
He also ad-libbed comments and added funny observations as Griffin continued reading.
The 46-year-old actress and Gooch dated for several months in 2015 after meeting while working on the film How to Be Single.
During their relationship, the pair were spotted together in Manhattan and were described as being "very cuddly" during a dinner date. The relationship ended amicably later that year.
In a previous interview with PEOPLE, Wilson opened up about losing her virginity in her mid-thirties and said she hopes her experience helps others feel less pressure to reach certain milestones by a specific age.
"Not everybody has to lose their virginity as a teenager," she shared. "People can wait till they're ready or wait till they're a bit more mature. And I think that could be a positive message...You obviously don't have to wait until you're in your thirties like me, but you shouldn't feel pressure as a young person."
The actress also acknowledged that discussing the subject was something she found difficult for many years.
Looking back, she admitted she often avoided conversations about sex altogether because she did not want to reveal how old she was when she lost her virginity.
Since her relationship with Gooch, Wilson has entered a new chapter in her personal life.
In February 2023, she announced her engagement to jewelry designer Ramona Agruma.
The couple married in Italy in September 2024 and are now parents to two daughters.
