Stormi Webster is barely a month old, and - in true Kardashian/Jenner form - she's already made the press more times than a number of fairly reputable celebrities. Most famously, the announcement of her birth pretty much broke the internet after becoming the most-liked picture on Instagram, and that record was nearly broken again when Jenner posted some cute snaps of herself and her daughter earlier this week.
In fact, almost every new update on Stormi's life so far has been shared by Jenner on Instagram. So, when she shared the first clear picture of her daughter on Snapchat, people were a little suspicious - especially when she'd only recently stated that she doesn't use the app anymore.
Just last month, the 20-year-old reality star tweeted that she wasn't a huge fan of Snapchat's latest update, and later commented that she isn't active on the platform: "Sooo does anyone else not open Snapchat anymore? Or is it just me… ugh this is so sad." Astoundingly, that one little tweet was enough to deal a damaging blow to the value of Snapchat's parent company, "Snap", who apparently lost $1.3billion in market value after Jenner made her opinion known.
Now, gossip blogger Perez Hilton is claiming that the new mom was compensated for her return to the photo-sharing app. He tweeted: "Sources tell me Snapchat PAID Kylie Jenner to post this first clear photo of her daughter’s face on their app! Smart of both of them!"
However, he didn't go on to divulge any further information about how much she was paid, or indeed who disclosed the deal to him in the first place. Despite this, it isn't entirely unbelievable that Snapchat would cough up a hearty sum of money in order to get Jenner back on their platform. After all, if she's capable of losing that much money for them, then it's likely she would be able to earn a lot of it back.
What's more, it's been speculated in the past that Kylie Jenner earns as much as $400,000 for a sponsored post on Instagram, so she's definitely not above taking a bit of cash in exchange for a quick picture.
Originally, it seemed as if Jenner might follow in her older sister Kim's footsteps by not sharing many pictures of Stormi at all, as she'd gone to great efforts to conceal her pregnancy. Plus, when she did finally reveal that she had been expecting all along, she chose to make the announcement as a text post rather than a picture.
"I'm sorry for keeping you in the dark through all the assumptions. I understand you're used to me bringing you along on all my journeys. my pregnancy was one I chose not to do in front of the world," she said. "I knew my baby would feel every stress and every emotion so I chose to do it this way for my little life and our happiness.
Since then, however, she's posted several snaps of Stormi, and has even been flaunting her (slightly NSFW) post-pregnancy figure, too - so it's clear that Jenner is well and truly back on social media. But whether she'll stick with Snapchat or remain true to Instagram remains to be seen.
