Russell Brand's prison nickname 'has been revealed'
Russell Brand has only been in prison for a few nights, but it seems like inmates have already come up with his nickname.
Brand, 51, was found guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault offences against four women between 2004 and 2009, and is facing a lengthy prison sentence.
He was found not guilty on two other counts of rape and one of attempted indecent assault, as a judge told the Get Him to the Greek star to expect a 'significant custodial term'.
The British actor appeared at London's Southwark Crown Court on Friday (November 5) after two days of deliberations, as a jury delivered their verdict.
Mr Justice Bennathan told the actor to expect a 'significant custodial term', before adding: "My current view is that I therefore have to remand you into custody," with Brand set to be sentenced on Monday.
The prison where Brand will serve his sentence is yet to be confirmed, but it's been reported that he is being held at Wandsworth.
Russell Brand's reported nickname
According to the Daily Mail, Brand endured a stinky first night in the south-west London jail's Care and Separation Unit (CSU) at HMP Wandsworth, as an inmate staged a dirty protest.
This involves deliberately smearing or throwing faeces and urine around a cell.
The CSU is also called 'The Block' or 'The Seg', and it is mostly below ground, as staff call it the 'bowels' of the prison.
Due to where he's been placed, Brand has now been dubbed 'Russell from the Block'.
Staff at Wandsworth believed that the convicted Brit was too high-profile for the Vulnerable Prisoners (VPs) wing, where other rapists and sex offenders are usually kept.
A governor or operational manager can place an inmate in segregation for a period of up to 72 hours, before a review board considers if it should be extended.
Those who are kept in CSU are kept behind bars for most of the day, with strict rules in place on whether they can leave their cells, while being given little chance of education or social contact.
It's also one of the harshest areas of the prison, with smells becoming particularly horrible when somebody carries out a 'dirty protest'.
Russell Brand given warning after first days in jail
It's been reported that the Brit has been 'shaken and quiet' in his first days behind bars, as sources say that he is 'in real danger'.
The prison where Brand will serve his sentence has not been confirmed, with the UK Prison Service yet to make a decision, as he is currently being held at Wandsworth.
Sources say that he was 'petrified' of spending his first night in custody, and is currently being 'watched around the clock'.
Brand reportedly hasn't been allowed to mix with the wider prison population due to safety fears.
Speaking to The Sun, a source warned: "Some of the officers and inmates will be excited to have a celebrity in there.
"But a lot of the cons would want to do him some damage, so he will not be allowed to mix in Wandsworth, and it will be safer for him (to be kept in the CSU)."
