Selena Gomez's name after marrying Benny Blanco

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are officially married, tying the knot in Santa Barbara, California, on September 27, 2025, and stepping out a few weeks later for their first red-carpet appearance as newlyweds at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on October 18.

The pair leaned into Old Hollywood glam for the night - Gomez in a sparkling black, structured look with a classic red lip and updo, and Blanco in a sharp dark suit - smiling and holding hands as they posed for photographers and greeted friends inside the event.

Their wedding - teased with romantic Instagram glimpses - was reported as an intimate celebration with designer touches and a guest list that blended close friends with A-list collaborators, while post-ceremony chatter has included sweet honeymoon notes and Gomez reflecting on savoring big life moments.

The newlyweds’ stylish debut capped a whirlwind month that also intersected with Gomez’s ongoing TV and beauty work and Blanco’s producing projects, signaling a polished, happy new chapter for both.

After the singer and actress officially tied the knot with the music producer in the private California ceremony, fans immediately began wondering if the 33-year-old would take her husband’s last name.

Selena Gomez confirmed that she would keep her last name after her and Benny Blanco's wedding.

However, Gomez already addressed the topic in a 2024 interview with Vanity Fair, and she was firm in her decision: “I’m not changing my name no matter what. I am Selena Gomez. That’s it."

The couple’s ceremony was attended by celebrity friends, including Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and SZA, and was described by attendees as deeply personal and emotional.

"At the reception, everyone was letting loose and celebrating them well into the night... "The vibe was so much fun," a source told PEOPLE. “Both Selena and Benny couldn’t stop smiling. There was so much love in the room."

Blanco, whose full name is Benjamin Joseph Levin, shared a post on Instagram shortly after the wedding, writing: “I married a real life disney princess.”

Gomez’s maternal grandfather walked her down the aisle, while heartfelt speeches came from her mother, Mandy Teefey, stepfather, Blanco’s parents, and friends.

Selena Opened Up About Her Relationship

Opening up about what makes their bond so strong, Gomez told Vanity Fair: “We always make sure we’re protecting what we have, but there’s no rules. I want him to always be himself. I always want to be myself.”

“I’ve never been loved this way,” she continued. “He’s just been a light. A complete light in my life. He’s my best friend. I love telling him everything.”

Francia Raisa Addresses Wedding Rumors

While the event was filled with love and joy, speculation around certain absences - particularly that of Gomez’s kidney donor, Francia Raisa - surfaced in the weeks that followed.

Raisa, who famously donated a kidney to Gomez in 2017 during the star’s lupus battle, addressed the rumors in a resurfaced interview recorded before the wedding.

Speaking in Spanish, she said: “I know she's getting married, and I'm very happy for her. And look... she has a life and she is already a billionaire and I am grateful that I could do that for her.”

Raisa compared her organ donation to a charitable act. “From the beginning, the doctors told me, it's a donation,” she explained. “If you are going to donate a dollar to St. Jude or somewhere else, you're not going to call to say, 'Hey, what are you doing with my dollar?'"

"It's a donation, and it's something nice that I was able to do,” she continued, adding: “I am grateful that I am alive, and I can say that I have saved a life."

Dismissing speculation about a falling out, she told the interviewer: “There are too many rumors. I’ve never said anything. No one knows what’s going on, and neither she nor I are talking about it. One day, maybe we will address it.”

Despite online speculation, the wedding itself was filled with heartfelt emotion and family pride. Gomez’s mother described it as “a perfect celebration,” writing on Instagram: “All my love to my beautiful daughter @selenagomez and to the greatest son-in-law @itsbennyblanco!!!” She added: “It was a fairytale come true, and it was beyond heartwarming watching my father walk her down the aisle!!!”

The newlyweds reportedly celebrated their nuptials by going on a road trip along the coast of California and visiting her home state of Texas. "They loved their little honeymoon," an insider close to the couple told PEOPLE. "They celebrated for days during their wedding and was on such a high."
