Sephora cancels partnership with Lori Loughlin's daughter after college admissions bribery scandal

We all know children from wealthy families have an unfair advantage when it comes to applying to college. They can afford to take expensive test prep courses, qualify for legacy admissions or just wait for Mommy and Daddy to make a very generous donation. However, the recent nationwide college admissions scandal exposes an astonishing level of corruption, showing just how far the rich and powerful will go to rig the game.

The Justice Department accused 50 people of participating in the scheme, which was twofold: paying off proctors to inflate student's standardized test scores, and bribing college officials to accept students as star athletes, even if they never played the sport. The dozens of parents charged included business executives, real estate titans, private equity CEO's and yes, two TV stars, Desperate Housewives' Felicity Huffman and Full House's Lori Loughlin. (I am so disappointed in Aunt Becky.)

Lori Loughlin and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, were charged with paying $500,000 in bribes to designate their two daughters as recruits for the crew team at the University of Southern California, although their daughters were not part of a crew team. To fabricate their athletic credentials, Giannulli submitted a photo of his daughters on a rowing machine to William Rick Singer, the accused ringleader of the scheme. The affidavit does not state whether the daughters were aware of the plot.

Following reports of the scandal, people began savagely criticizing Loughlin's youngest daughter, Olivia Jade Giannulli. (Who, by the way, was reportedly on a billionaire USC trustee's yacht,  enjoying vacation in the Bahamas when the news broke.) On Giannulli's YouTube channel, which has nearly 2 million subscribers, she publishes makeup tutorials and vlogs about her luxurious life. Just before she started at USC, she posted a video, stating, "I do want the experience of game days [and] partying. I don't really care about school."

What's more, on her Twitter account, Giannulli frequently complained about how much she hates going to class, which begs the question: Why is this aspiring beauty vlogger attending a prestigious college? As US Attorney Andrew Lelling said. "For every student admitted through fraud an honest, genuinely talented student was rejected."

On Instagram, several people posted hilarious comments trolling the fake rowing star. "Are you allowed to drink alcohol? You might lose your athletes scholarship!! Be careful!!!" wrote one person, underneath a photo of Giannulli holding a giant glass of wine. "Absolute queen of rowing we stan," commented another. And a third person joked, "Please do a video for how you prepared for the SATs."

As a beauty vlogger and Instagram influencer, Giannulli promoted Sephora on social media and collaborated with the brand on an exclusive product. However, on Thursday, Sephora announced they are canceling their partnership with the 19-year-old. "After careful review of recent developments, we have made the decision to end the Sephora Collection partnership with Olivia Jade, effective immediately," stated a Sephora representative.

On Sephora's website, critics bombarded the Olivia Jade Collection with scornful - and humorous - negative reviews. "This palette has such an intense highlight I thought it would blind others to my privilege and toxicity," wrote one person. "Unfortunately, it did not work and instead left me dusty AF." Meanwhile, another person vowed, "I was a long time Sephora customer and will never buy anything from them again if they endorse this terrible unethical selfish lying brand."

And the backlash continues - in breaking news, the Hallmark Channel has ended their relationship with Lori Loughlin.
