Footage emerges of Shia LaBeouf involved in brawl outside bar during Mardi Gras Celebrations
Shia LaBeouf has been arrested in New Orleans following an alleged brawl during Mardi Gras celebrations that unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday.
The 39-year-old Transformers and Even Stevens star now faces two counts of simple battery after police say he struck two men outside a French Quarter bar and became a significant disturbance for staff and bystanders.
According to officials with the New Orleans Police Department, officers were called to the 1400 block of Royal Street just after midnight where they found a chaotic situation involving LaBeouf.
Police allege he was “increasingly aggressive” inside the establishment, which led staff to ask him to leave. Once outside, he allegedly struck one man multiple times with closed fists.
The actor then left briefly before returning and continuing the alleged attack, even striking another man in the nose, authorities said.
Eyewitnesses in the French Quarter described the scene as tense.
According to some reports, LaBeouf was shirtless and visibly agitated, prompting other patrons to step in and restrain him until police arrived.
Paramedics also treated him for undisclosed injuries before he was taken into custody.
LaBeouf’s arrest comes amid extended Mardi Gras festivities in New Orleans, a city known for its vibrant Carnival celebrations that can stretch over several days leading up to Fat Tuesday.
What began as revelry appears to have taken a troubling turn for the actor, who has been in the city since at least last Thursday for the annual events.
This incident adds to a long and complicated history of legal troubles for LaBeouf, who has publicly discussed his battles with alcohol and personal demons.
In the past he has faced arrests for public intoxication and disorderly conduct, and was ordered to seek treatment after earlier run-ins with law enforcement.
More recently, he resolved a high-profile lawsuit from singer FKA Twigs with a private settlement in 2025, which stemmed from allegations of assault and emotional distress.
At this stage, LaBeouf’s representatives have not issued a public comment on the New Orleans arrest.
He is expected to make a court appearance today as the charges of simple battery move forward.
