Sienna Miller recently revealed that a broadway producer once told her "f*** off" when she asked to be paid the same amount as her male co-star.

Speaking for its December issue, the 40-year-old candidly told British Vogue that it took her a long time to realize her worth and, in doing so, she managed to stand up for what she believed in.

Miller outlines details of an incident where she was "offered less than half" of the pay of one of her male counterparts, describing it as a "pivotal moment" in her life.

The British-American actress recalled: "I said to the producer, who was extremely powerful, it’s not about money – it’s about fairness and respect, thinking they’d come back and say, ‘Of course, of course.’ But they didn’t.

"They just said, ‘Well f**k off then."

After initially feeling embarrassed about the situation, Miller quickly realized that this issue deserved to be addressed.

"I realized I had every right to be equally subsidized for the work that I would have done," she told the outlet.

Later on in her career, while filming alongside the late actor Chadwick Boseman in 21 Bridges, the issue cropped up again - but this time, the outcome was completely different.

Miller explained how Boseman reallocated some of his own salary so that she could be compensated properly. Of course, she let him know how thankful she was.

"What you did was extraordinary and meant the world," she told him, then adding that he responded with: "You got paid what you deserved."

Miller's latest project sees her starring alongside an elite line-up of actors in Scott Z. Burns' Extrapolations where she will take on the role of marine biologist Rebecca Shearer.

The Apple TV+ series tells stories of the overwhelming impact that climate change will have on our future. Whether it's love, family, faith or work, the show aims to depict the repercussions of the crisis across 8 dramatic episodes.

Speaking of Extrapolations, Burns said: "The only thing we know for sure about the future is that we are all going there together— and we’re taking with us our hopes, our fears, our appetites, our creativity, our capacity for love and our predilection to cause pain.

"These are the same tools that storytellers have been using since the beginning of time. Our show is just using them to keep time from running out."

Extrapolations is set to premiere in 2023.
