And so, another Emmys Awards ceremony has been and gone, leaving us basking in the reflective warmth of its effervescent glow.

The ceremony, which celebrates excellence in television, crowned popular winners such as Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Jodie Comer (for Villanelle in Killing Eve) and Jason Bateman, who provided arguably the moment of the night with his deadpan, slightly bemused reaction to beating out Game of Thrones to win the outstanding direction of a drama series (Ozark) Emmy.

In the midst of all the hilarity, mutual admiration and applause, though, came the realisation that this would be the Game of Thrones cast's final Emmys appearance as an ensemble.

Yes, Game of Thrones has now come to an end, leaving fans with nothing but the memories of the glory days of the series, eight seasons to look back on, oh and the promise of prequel series in the offing. So actually, there's still a lot to be cheerful about if you're an avid fan of Game of Thrones.

There were many reunions to behold inside the Microsoft Theatre in LA last night, but perhaps none more emotional than the moment Sophie Turner and Kit Harrington were reunited.

This was Harrington's first red carpet since checking into a wellness retreat following the final season of Game of Thrones, and the pair looked positively delighted to see each other:

And fans on Twitter were emotional to see the pair's reunion playing out.

According to a report from Deadline, a Game of Thrones House Targaryen prequel could soon be in the works, reportedly set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

It looks like fans of the series won't fully be saying goodbye to the world they've become so familiar with after all.
