I don't know if you can remember much about the summer of 2013, but for me, the memory looms large in my mind. I was in university, living with some of my best buds, and the soundtrack of that summer was Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke. Gosh, just thinking about that song makes me feel old.

Fast forward to present day, and Blurred Lines is looked upon rather poorly in the contemporary music community. Robin Thicke received widespread criticism and underwent a rather messy divorce, the song itself got sued by the estate of Marvin Gaye for plagiarism, but one person who came out okay from the debacle (apart from the immortal Pharrell Williams) is Emily Ratajkowski.

Yeah, the model featured heavily in the music video. Guys, let's not pretend like you don't know who I'm talking about. The Blurred Lines music video came in for some serious criticism, but it was the springboard into cultural relevance for Ratajkowski, and now, pretty much everyone can spell her name with some moderate prompting at most.

She starred alongside Ben Affleck in the critically-acclaimed Gone Girl, and even made an appearance in the 2015 Entourage movie and Amy Schumer's recent comedy, I Feel Pretty. All the while continuing her burgeoning modelling career. But enough about Emily Ratajkowski's career: what I really want to know is how she fuelled herself to climb into the higher echelons of stardom.

For a while, it looked like I would never find out, but then, Ratajkowski spoke to Harper's Bazaar Australia about her eating habits, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Not only because she actually subsisted on more than just leaves and prayers, but also because it doesn't even seem like she spends every waking second in the gym either.

I can get behind that.

"I like to keep it really balanced to give my body energy and also be healthy," says Ratajkowski, showing that she's got a solid philosophy behind her dieting, but what exactly are we talking here? Let's begin with breakfast, shall we? "Every day I go to Blacktop Coffee and get this pastry called kouign-amann with my black coffee," Ratajkowski revealed.

In case you were wondering (I certainly was), a kouign-amann is pretty much a croissant on steroids, with butter and sugar between every fold of pastry. Wait, Emily Ratajkowski has one of those every day?! "I always pretend that I don't know what I'm getting. I'm like, 'Um, hmm, I guess I'll get… a kouign-amann?' They're like, 'Uh-huh.'"

Moving onto lunch, and it's usually a sandwich or salad, and Ratajkowski does well to restrain herself when she's on set, filming for her latest movie role. "If I'm on set, I'll have catering, but I'm well behaved with that stuff. It's easy to go crazy—they know how to feed you."

Sage advice that I'll keep in mind next time I'm on a movie set.

For dinner, the 27-year-old likes to hang out with her friends, and head to a nice fancy restaurant. Italian is her fave ("I love this Italian restaurant downtown called Bestia. It's kind of fun, and they have good cocktails and wine"), but on the rare occasion she's at home, Ratajkowski will double down on the protein.

"I'm a carnivore. I really like to eat meat. I crave iron," she revealed, and for someone who looks as good as she does, I'm a little jealous at her ability to seemingly eat whatever she wants. Ah well, good for you Emily. You keep doing you.
