Sydney Sweeney has opened up about her romantic life following rumors that she's dating a renowned American music icon.
The 28-year-old Euphoria star has been linked to music executive Scooter Braun since June 2025, after they were spotted together at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding in Italy.
Their relationship quickly became the subject of public fascination, with the two being seen on multiple occasions since, including a New Year’s trip to Europe and a recent outing to Dave & Buster’s in Hollywood.
However, despite the media attention surrounding their romance, Sweeney remains focused on navigating her personal life with privacy and intention.
In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, Sweeney shared her romantic ideals, likening love to a magical fairytale.
“You know in The Princess Diaries when Anne Hathaway says that when she kisses the guy she knows she’s supposed to be with, her foot will flip up? That’s what love feels like,” she shared.
“The lights will magically turn on. The birds will start flying," she continued.
"The fountains start shooting water. Love is a Disney movie."
Though linked to the 44-year-old music mogul, the Housemaid star maintains that her personal life is her own and prefers to keep the specifics of her relationships private.
“Sometimes I’ll think that I can do a normal thing and have a date in a normal way, and then it gets perceived in a very non-normal way,” she reflected.
“It’s kind of sad.”
The Struggle for Privacy in the Public Eye
Sweeney, who ended a seven-year relationship with her ex-fiancé Jonathan Davino, has made it clear that while she is a public figure, she is still in her 20s and figuring out love.
“I think it’s important to have some things for myself. I understand that I’m a public person, but I’m still in my 20s. I’m still figuring out love, and it’s hard to do that with millions of people who have their own opinions of what that looks like,” she said.
“At the same time, for all of my 20s, I put my head down and focused on work - and now I want to experience things,” she continued.
“But it’s hard deciding that I want to experience love in the public eye. I’m just navigating it all.”
What She Seeks in a Partner
Sweeney revealed what she’s looking for in a partner, saying her ideal companion is someone "who will be my best friend, who I can hang out with, talk to all the time, dream up things with, and work with".
Her type is someone “athletic and outgoing and funny,” but she also emphasized her independence, saying, “I am a boss in my life. I take control. I go after what I want."
"I am confident, and I am successful, and I don’t actually need a man. I’ve got myself. I’ve got an incredible group of girlfriends. I’ve got a team of badass women. That is very intimidating to a lot of guys," she added.
Political Controversy and the "MAGA Barbie" Label
Alongside her relationship and career, the Anyone But You actress has faced political controversy, particularly after a 2024 American Eagle campaign.
The ad, which used wordplay on "jeans" as "genes," was slammed over its perceived references to eugenics.
This led to Sweeney being associated with the right-wing online circles, earning her the label "MAGA Barbie" after being praised by President Donald Trump for her ad and political leanings.
In her Cosmopolitan interview, Sweeney explained that the narrative around her political beliefs was built without her input.
“Those aren’t my values,” she said, emphasizing that she has “never been here to talk about politics.”
While she acknowledged that it’s been hard to see people project their own beliefs onto her, she clarified, “I’m not a political person. I’m in the arts. I’m not here to speak on politics.”
“It’s been a weird thing having to navigate and digest, because it’s not me. None of it is me. I just have to continue being who I am, because I know who I am."
“I became an actor because I like to tell stories, but I don’t believe in hate in any form," she continued, adding that she believes "we should all love each other and have respect and understanding for one another".
