Taylor Lautner and his wife, Taylor "Tay" Lautner, are currently preparing to welcome their first child together. The couple, who announced the pregnancy earlier this year, are expecting a baby girl.
While the pair have shared various moments of their journey with fans, Tay recently sat down for an open conversation about the personal challenges that have accompanied her pregnancy.
Appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast with host Alex Cooper, Tay spoke candidly about how her pregnant body has impacted her sex life and her relationship.
During the episode, Tay opened up about how her physical transformation altered her self-perception and impacted intimate moments with her husband.
She shared how difficult it has been to navigate intimacy while dealing with sudden physical changes and personal body image struggles.
The podcast episode revealed a candid look into how physical changes during pregnancy affected Tay's confidence and expectations. When asked if her experience with her body differed from what she anticipated, Tay admitted that the weight gain took her by surprise.
"Oh, yeah. Everything. I've already gained 35 pounds. I didn't think I was going to gain that much weight. Because my mom was one of those people that you could not even tell she was pregnant and had a great pregnancy," Tay explained, adding that she struggled with comparing herself to those standards.
She further noted how jarring the physical adjustment was, stating, "I think there's so much comparison and I still do it now. I mean, obviously I have a better relationship with it because the more I've been open and talking about it, the more I feel better about it, but I wasn't expecting to almost not even fit in Taylor's jeans."
Tay also addressed comments from outsiders regarding her physical appearance and the myth of the pregnancy glow. "I also am kind of struggling with the 'glowing' thing. I feel better with it now, but when someone's like, 'You're glowing.' I'm like, 'No, I just have gained 30 pounds, and my face is fuller,'" she shared.
The physical shifts naturally carried over into Tay's intimate life with her husband. She shared how she reached out to friends during the early stages of her pregnancy to see if they were experiencing similar feelings regarding intimacy.
"I've been trying to be naked more in front of Taylor because I just need to accept it because I think it's also hard to... I remember I texted my girlfriends in the first trimester when we were like maybe starting to feel better but not, and I was like, is anyone having sex?" Tay revealed, seemingly implying that she and her famous husband were not having sex amid her pregnancy.
Despite the vulnerabilities that came with her changing body, Tay emphasized that learning to reframe her mindset and rely on her husband's support has been vital.
"I honestly just have to be like, brain, shut up, Taylor loves me and doesn't think these thoughts that I think about myself," she said.
