Heather Dubrow has announced that her youngest child is a transgender boy.

The Real Housewives of Orange County star, 54, took to Instagram over the weekend to post the update. Sharing the news with her 1.6 million followers on the platform, she revealed that her 12-year-old child has come out as transgender and now goes by the name Ace.

The post, which was made on International Sons Day, came with a lengthy caption and an image of  "Ace" written in the sand.

Heather wrote in the heartfelt caption: "Our job as parents is to give our kids a safe and supportive environment so they can grow up as healthy, happy, confident, independent humans.

"Since Ace is a 12 year old child, with a long life ahead of him - we will let him tell his own story someday if he chooses to do so. All we can say is Ace, we love you so much and we are proud to be your parents. Your brother and sisters love and support you too."

Soon enough, the post was flooded with thousands of supportive comments from fans.

Heather and her husband Terry, 64, are also parents to 19-year-old twins - a son Nick and daughter Max - and 16-year-old daughter Kat.

Heather told People last year that a year after her daughter Max came out as bisexual, her younger daughter Kat came out as gay.

"We've got four kids, they are different genders, different sexualities, and all at interesting places in their lives, figuring out who they are and where they belong as humans," the Bravo star said

Also speaking to the outlet, Terry referred to Ace as "always been incredibly strong-willed" and called him a "very complex, layered person."

Ace is "going through a lot of self-exploration right now," he went on to say.

"Everyone always looked at [Ace] because [Ace] dresses 'like a boy', which, I hate those kinds of labels. It's clothing. Clothing should just be clothing at this point," Heather added.

"Billy Porter wears a gorgeous gown down the runway. He looks phenomenal. What does it matter what we're wearing?" she continued, going on to say that Ace "is a very cool kid."

The couple feel fortunate that they can use their platform to shed light on marginalized communities.

This is partly why they decided to return to Real Housewives of Orange County last season. "I felt like our purpose is to keep those conversations going in other families," said Heather.

Terry, a plastic surgeon by profession, added: "Coming out with your sexuality is something that broadly affects a lot of different people. We just want people to realize it should be part of normal conversations."
