A recent video from Donald Trump’s Super Bowl party has left many confused and sparked a lot of attention.
The U.S. president made headlines for his outspoken criticism of Bad Bunny’s halftime show, where the Latin superstar made history by performing an all-Spanish set at the annual NFL championship game on February 8.
But despite his negative remarks, a viral video seems to show Trump enjoying the very thing he criticized.
Trump’s Harsh Words for Bad Bunny and Super Bowl Performers
Trump didn’t hold back when commenting on the halftime show, particularly calling out Bad Bunny, who was performing as the first artist to headline with a completely Spanish-language set.
In an interview, he openly stated his disapproval of both Bad Bunny and Green Day, commenting: “I’m anti-them... I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.”
He added that the Super Bowl was “too far” for him to attend, but his comments about the performers were clear. His criticism appeared to be more than just a dislike of their music, but a condemnation of the overall vibe they brought to the event.
Turning Point USA’s “All American” Alternative Show
For fans who shared Trump’s sentiments, there was an alternative option during the halftime show, thanks to Turning Point USA.
Founded by the late Charlie Kirk, this nonprofit organization put together an ‘All American’ halftime show, featuring acts like Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett.
Given Trump’s strong ties to the organization and his vocal support of the Kirk family, one might have expected him to switch the channel to support this alternative.
However, a viral video posted to X (formerly Twitter) suggests otherwise.
The Irony: Trump’s Super Bowl Party and Bad Bunny
The video, which quickly gained traction online, shows Trump hosting his Super Bowl watch party at one of his golf clubs. The footage clearly shows Bad Bunny’s performance, despite Trump’s vocal criticisms just days earlier.
While the former president is seen enjoying the party, the screen in the background features the Grammy-winning artist performing, with one screen cutting to an even clearer view of the scene.
For many, the irony was hard to ignore - Trump had publicly condemned the performance but seemed to be watching it at his own event.
Trump’s Truth Social Rant Against Bad Bunny’s Show
Later, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to continue his criticism of the halftime show. In a post, he slammed the performance as “absolutely terrible” and claimed it was one of the “worst, EVER!” He also called the show an affront to American greatness and culture.
“The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence,” Trump wrote.
“Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World.”
Trump continued to criticize the performance, suggesting it was a "slap in the face" to the U.S., and went on to boast about the nation’s “Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History."
He also made sure to add that the performance lacked anything “inspirational” and predicted that “Fake News Media” would praise it, while taking another swipe at the NFL for its new “ridiculous” kickoff rule.
