Cynthia Erivo was unimpressed with Dax Shepard’s “inappropriate” question about how she maintains proper hygiene with extra-long nails.

The 37-year-old British star is set to star as Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) in the highly anticipated movie musical, Wicked, which will be released this weekend.

The Harriet star was a guest on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast on Monday (November 18) when he decided to ask a "really crazy" question about her flashy long nails.

"When you're wiping your butt…," Shepard, 49, began before the Academy-award nominee interjected: "I knew you would ask that question."

Listen to the interview below:

Erivo went on to shut down the interviewer's question by clarifying that "nobody uses just their fingers to wipe their backside." She then asked him: "You use tissue, correct? And you wipe!"

However, the interviewer continued to probe the star on how she holds the toilet paper in her hand, and whether she uses the "tips of the fingernails".

In response, Erivo explained that she uses the “pads of the fingers," before adding, 'I'm a functioning adult," and has never “walked around smelling…”

“Great, great, great, now we’re getting somewhere,” Shepard said, before continuing: “Then you’re just feeling the little tickle of the nails on the crack of your butt sometimes?” Erivo said this was not the case because she uses tissues.

After joking that he would make a mitten out of toilet paper if he had her long nails, the podcaster asked the Broadway star if she was offended by the question.

“I'm annoyed by it. I'm, like, 'Come on, guys,'” the London-born entertainer said.

A number of people commented on the incident online, with one Twitter user labeling the podcaster "gross".

The Grammy-winner has been rocking larger-than-life nail art throughout the global Wicked premieres and press tour.

Her manicurist, Mycah Dior, has shared stunning close-up pictures of her custom art on Instagram, revealing that they were created with the OPI x Wicked Nail Lacquer Collection.

Many fans have taken to the comment section to praise their work. "Nail appreciation," one user applauded, while another exclaimed: "I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE RING DESIGN."

"Flawless," a third simply said. "Absolutely yes," a fourth added.

Erivo's manicurist spoke to Bustle about their client's Elphaba-inspired nails for the NYC premiere in an interview published last week.

“This whimsical set is inspired by ‘Wicked’ of course and it brings Elphaba and Glinda’s worlds to life,” Dior shared. “Green and pink colors embody their contrasting personalities, with Elphaba’s vivid green skin and Glinda’s soft, light-hearted aura."

“Every detail adds to the enchanting, whimsical feel of this set — it took about four hours to create," they added.

Wicked will be released in theaters on November 22. A second installment is rumored to follow next year.

Other notable names in the film are Michelle Yeoh who will be taking on the role of Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey, who will be playing Fiyero, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard.
