Winona Ryder has accused Mel Gibson of making anti-semitic and homophobic remarks in a recent interview with The Sunday Times.

When asked whether she had ever experienced anti-semitism in Hollywood, The Stranger Things star replied with several examples.

"I have… in interesting ways," she told journalist Laura Atkinson. "There are times when people have said, 'Wait, you're Jewish? But you're so pretty!' There was a movie that I was up for a long time ago, it was a period piece, and the studio head, who was Jewish, said I looked 'too Jewish' to be in a blue-blooded family."

She then proceeded to recall a disturbing run-in with actor, Mel Gibson.

“We were at a crowded party with one of my good friends, and Mel Gibson was smoking a cigar, and we’re all talking and he said to my friend, who’s gay, ‘Oh wait, am I gonna get AIDS?’ And then something came up about Jews, and he said, ‘You’re not an oven dodger, are you?’”

According to the publication, Ryder proceeded to shake her head incredulously, before adding that Gibson - whose drunken anti-Jewish rant at a  California cop in 2006 derailed his career for years - "tried" to later apologize.

A representative for the Braveheart actor has since disputed Ryder's allegations.

Speaking to HuffPost, the rep said: "This is 100% untrue. She lied about it over a decade ago, when she talked to the press, and she’s lying about it now. Also, she lied about him trying to apologize to her back then. He did reach out to her, many years ago, to confront her about her lies and she refused to address it with him."

Back in 2006, a police report revealed that Gibson said "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world!" during a DUI arrest.

Ryder, whose father is Jewish, told the Sunday Times that she was "not religious" but identified as Jewish.
