A pre-recorded deposition in which a witness vaped inside his car was played for the jury at Johnny Depp's defamation trial on Wednesday (day 10 of the case).

Depp, 58, was seen chuckling along with members of the jury as Alejandro Romero - a doorman for the Los Angeles apartment building where he lived with Amber Heard - vaped and drove off while testifying for the ongoing court case.

In the video, recorded in January last year, Romero answers several questions from inside a vehicle.

In footage of his testimony, Romero speaks about an incident that saw Heard and Depp asked him to look into what they thought had been an intrusion, which he believed was merely a dog scratching at their door.

“They were talking about someone trying to get into their unit, and in my head I was saying, ‘You really think someone is trying to get into your unit?’” Romero recalled, per The Guardian, adding: “There’s scratches four inches above the floor on your door. That was a dog trying to get into your unit.”

“They were so afraid – I actually went. They asked me to go inside the unit just to check room by room to make sure that no one was actually there.”

Romero went on to say that he carried out the investigation as it was part of his job but that he “didn’t understand why they wanted me to do that”.

Elsewhere in his testimony, the doorman shared his frustration with the court case, saying he was “so stressed out” and didn’t “want to deal with this any more”.

When the pre-taped deposition came to an end, a puzzled Judge Penney Azcarate told the jury that it a “good time to break for lunch”.

Following a lengthy pause, she added: “Alright … that was a first, I’m sorry.”

Heard's lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, replied: “I will say your honor that was the most bizarre deposition…”

Cutting her off, Azcarate raised her hands and said: “Yeah, OK, I just got to say I’ve never seen that before. I’ve seen a lot of things, but I’ve never seen that.”

In any case, one part of his testimony saw Romero explain that he couldn't recall “seeing any marks or bruises” on the Aquaman star's face and added:  “I would’ve seen that and I would remember because that’s something that you would see.”

He also said could not remember if he had seen Heard on a particular date, with laughter breaking out once more when he said: “I don’t even remember what I got for breakfast.”
