It's the news we've all been waiting for - Magic Mike and the rest of the 'stripperverse' men are officially returning for a third and final dance.

Channing Tatum - who stared as Mike in the original two movies - announced on Monday, November 29, that he and his topless teammates are in the process of filming Magic Mike's Last Dance.

The actor, 41, shared the first page of the script in a tweet captioned: "Well world, looks like Mike Lane's tapping back in."

We've still yet to hear which of Mike's original dance crew will be returning to the stage. The original gang included Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomber, Joe Manganiello, Adam Rodriguez, and Alex Pettyfer.

Based loosely on Tatum's own experiences as a male stripper, Soderberg's steamy 2012 film Magic Mike was a smash hit with audiences worldwide. The movie followed newcomer Adam (Pettyfer) as he is introduced to the job by seasoned stripper Mike (Tatum).

At the end of the film, the pressures of the stage become too much for Mike and he exits the business. But in 2015's Magic Mike XXL he's tempted out of retirement to join many of his original crew on a cross-country road trip.

As well as the two films, the franchise has inspired a wildly popular stage show. The 'Magic Mike Live' show launched in Las Vegas and has since spread worldwide.

It's also soon to be joined by Finding Magic Mike - a reality dance show following ten men as they learn to perform, with the winner getting a chance to take the stage in Magic Mike Live. The series is set to premiere on HBO Max on December 16, 2021.

As for Magic Mike's Last Dance, no release date has been set yet, though it looks like it too will be available to watch on HBO Max.

Fans have unsurprisingly gone wild at the news, with many tweeting their excitement.

"This is the greatest day of my life!" wrote one.

"Greatest movie ever incoming," added another.

"2021 is good again," commented a third.
