Cole Sprouse has been hilariously slammed by fans after an interview of him smoking indoors went viral on social media
This week, the 30-year-old Suite Life of Zack and Cody alum was the latest celebrity to feature on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast.
A teaser clip of the interview was shared online before the full episode, and it showed Sprouse inhaling from a lit cigarette as he sat inside the recording studio opposite the host.
In the video, Cooper says to him: "You had a relationship with a cast mate on Riverdale," referencing his almost three-year relationship with Riverdale cast member Lily Reinhart - who plays Betty Cooper.
Watch the clip below:"How did you navigate a breakup with someone that you work with?" she asked, to which Spouse responded: "Oh, it was really hard. I know we both did quite a bit of damage to each other," while holding the cigarette in between his fingers.
When the interviewer questioned the actor on why he and the 26-year-old ended their romance, the former Disney Channel star then took a long puff of his cig while thinking about the question.
Unsurprisingly, the video went viral on the social media platform after one user captioned it with "he gives me the ick," and this led to a flood of scathing reactions from other people about the way Sprouse smokes.
One person absolutely roasted him: "He has neither the casual bravado of someone who habitually smokes in their own bed nor the reverence and excitement for the rare pleasure of smoking cigs inside. He’s in the Uncanny Valley of indoor smoking, like only smoking cigs at frat parties."
Another user questioned: "Why is Cole Sprouse smoking that cig like he’s Bob Dylan or something? Bestie you’re literally on call her daddy."
A third person criticized him by writing: "Cole Sprouse smoking a cigarette INDOORS on a podcast is the cringiest thing ever."
A fourth user jested: "Those anti-smoking campaigns should use this video for all of their ads cause I’ve never seen smoking look less cool."
Elsewhere in the podcast episode - which was released on March 8 - the Riverdale star claimed that his twin brother Dylan was a "huge bully" in school.
He was asked by the interviewer to elaborate on how his brother would mock people at school, so he explained: "[Dylan] would beat them up! And then I became known as the twin that would come up and be like 'I’m so sorry for my brother.'"
The podcast's host pointed out that their real-life dynamic was parallel to their characters on the popular sitcom, and Cole replied: "I think the writers on 'Zack & Cody' took a lot of cues from our actual personalities, but yeah, he was a real bully."
Cooper questioned if Dylan would be upset about his brother disclosing this information about his childhood, to which the former child actor responded: "Oh no, everyone knows that he was a bully."
"I don't know if he's fine with it. I think he's still got stuff to work out," he added.
