Drew Barrymore has gotten candid about how she was ghosted after a recent date.

The 47-year-old TV host and actress was appearing on Jay Shetty's popular podcast On Purpose where she spoke openly about her dating history, societal expectations of love, and how to let go of unproductive relationships.

One of her stories included how she was ghosted by a recent romantic interest shortly after their first date.

Urban Dictionary defines 'ghosting' as: "When a person cuts off all communication with their friends or the person they're dating, with zero warning or notice beforehand. You'll mostly see them avoiding friends' phone calls, social media, and avoiding them in public."

Barrymore revealed that this particular situation helped her learn a valuable lesson about getting ghosted, recounting the incident to Shetty. "I went on a date with this guy. I thought it was the best date. I mean it really was.

"We made a plan for that weekend and we were texting back and forth and it was so cute, and I was like, I really like him. What a nice guy. I was attracted to him. I loved his job because he was in the news business and I love news, and I'm like, 'oh my god this is so cool.'"

"I never heard from him again. I guess that's what you call getting ghosted. I was like, whoah, that is so, that is so weird. OK," the mom-of-two added.

Also during the podcast, the Charlie's Angels actress became emotional when talkng about her love life, especially following her split from ex-husband Will Kopelman in 2016. "I'm really good at giving [love] to my daughters and to my friends, but I've noticed how much of my history with the romantic space, I am so stuck, and I'm the person who doesn't want to be stuck," she explained.

"I want to know what work I can do to take my walls down, believe and trust," adding that she was "still scared, or nervous."

Following her split from Kopelman, Barrymore revealed that she'd not been intimate with another person in six years, announcing in December 2022 that she'd finally be dipping her toe in the dating pool again after a lengthy hiatus.

Earlier that year, Barrymore was transparent about the anxiety she feels when dating, telling PEOPLE: "I love being with my friends and I love being alone, where does dating fit in? [...] Every once in a while, I'll go on a date because it's a very human, natural thing to do. I've gone on dates where I'm like, 'Oh my God, why did I say yes to dinner? Because we haven't ordered yet, and I don't want to be here.'"
