Johnny Depp's former flame Ellen Barkin has testified against him and revealed details about their relationship in a 2019 pre-recorded deposition on Thursday.
Actress Barkin, 68, reflected on her brief relationship with the 58-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star and told the courtroom that the pair formed a friendship in 1994 after they starred in the film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas together.
The actress said that the friendship went from a "purely platonic friendship to romantic," then reiterated to correct the record and noted that it was a sexual relationship.
According to her, the relationship lasted several months and she would go to the actor's house or he would come to hers, about three or four times a week.
Watch Barkin's testimony below:One of Heard's lawyers asked: "Did there come a time when Mr. Depp acted in a way that was out of control with you?"
Barkin answered that she was in a hotel room in Las Vegas with the actor, his assistant, and his friends one day during the filming of Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas.
Barkin said: "Yes, Depp threw a wine bottle across the hotel room in one instance, in Las Vegas while shooting Fear and Loathing. A fight was going on between Johnny Depp and his friends in the room and the assistant."
She added that while his anger was not directed at her, the bottle was allegedly still thrown in the direction of her and the people in the room.
"I don’t know why he threw the bottle," she added.
The Fantastic Beasts star previously called the claim "untrue," Reuters reported, claiming Barkin held a grudge against him after their breakup. He added: "I do not have an anger-management problem."
Jurors on Thursday heard The Animal Kingdom Star testify that her former lover was "jealous" and "controlling" during their short time together.
Barkin said: "He's just a jealous man, controlling. 'Where are you going? Who are you going with? What did you do last night?'
"I had a scratch on my back once that got him very, very angry because he insisted it came from having sex with a person who wasn't him."
Barkin claims that the Hollywood icon was "always drinking and smoking a joint," specifying that the actor was also often "tripping" or under the influence of substances.
Her testimony was played in court in Fairfax, Virginia on Thursday during Depp’s high-profile defamation trial with his ex-wife.
Depp is suing the Aquaman star for $50 million after a published 2018 op-ed in the Washington Post identified her as a victim of domestic violence. Depp claims that the article ruined his career and reputation.
Heard is countersuing for $100 million.
