Elon Musk's dad has opened up about his scandalous affair with his stepdaughter Jana Bezuidenhout.

The South African engineer explained why he welcomed two babies with his ex-wife's daughter, who is over 41 years his junior, during an appearance on an Australian radio show the Kyle and Jackie O Show.

When quizzed about how the couple's relationship first turned romantic, Errol explained: "I was married to her mother for two years in the '90s, and I never saw her [Jana]; she was actually placed in foster care."

"I never saw her for many years and then...I think maybe I had seen her and then about 2014, she was 30 years old," he continued.

He went on to insist that his relationship with Bezuidenhout - which has since ended - was "completely normal" despite the age gap.

The Tesla boss' father first announced that he had welcomed a second child with his stepdaughter in a recent interview with The Sun.

"I haven't checked her DNA, but she looks just like my other daughters. She looks like Rose and Tosca mixed up," Musk told the outlet.

He went on to explain that the baby "wasn't planned," but that he suspects she was conceived after Bezuidenhout gave birth to their son Elliot 'Rushi' Musk in 2018.

"She looks exactly like Rushi and she behaves like him. So it's pretty obvious you know," he said when asked how he could be sure that he was the little girl's father.

Musk and Bezuidenhout first met over 30 years ago, when she was just a young child herself. The engineer married her mother Heidi, with whom he welcomed two daughters Alexandra and Asha.

At the time, he had already fathered SpaceX founder Elon as well as his brother and sister Kimbal and Tosca with his first wife Maye Musk.

He explained that his daughters Alexandra and Asha are still uneasy about his involvement with Bezuidenhout, saying: "They still feel a bit creepy about it, because she's their sister. Their half-sister."

However, Errol was adamant that he had done nothing wrong by fathering children with her. "The only thing we are on Earth for is to reproduce," he claimed.
