Twitter has slapped a new label on Donald Trump's erroneous election tweets, confirming that Joe Biden has, in fact, been declared the winner of the 2020 US Presidential Election.

The president has continued to make a string of unfounded allegations of voter fraud following his loss to 78-year-old Joe Biden. He even demanded that states recount the ballots and threatened legal action.

Days after the announcement of his loss on November 7, he tweeted to his 88.6 million followers that there had been a "cesspool of fake votes" and "unthinkable and illegal" activity during the election.

At the time, Twitter slapped these tweets with the warning label: "This claim about election fraud is disputed", and provided users a link to a page offering more information about the results.

On November 16, the 74-year-old POTUS insisted once again on Twitter: "I WON THE ELECTION!"

This time, the tweet came with the warning: "Official sources called this election differently".

And now that the Electoral College has confirmed Joe Biden's win, Twitter has changed this label to "Election officials have certified Joe Biden as the winner of the U.S. Presidential election".

Yesterday, (December 19), for example, the president tweeted: "The lie of the year is that Joe Biden won!"

And the new label: "Election officials have certified Joe Biden as the winner of the U.S. Presidential election", has now been plastered on the false tweet.

Biden's victory was confirmed on December 14, after California's 55 Electoral College votes were counted, meaning he had more than the 270 votes needed to win.

As per AP News, Biden made this speech after his victory was confirmed:

"Once again in America, the rule of law, our Constitution, and the will of the people have prevailed. Our democracy — pushed, tested, threatened — proved to be resilient, true, and strong."

Despite Trump's insistence to the contrary, national, state, and private election officials have called the election the "most secure" in "American history".

On November 12, these officials release a joint statement saying that there "there is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised".
