Fans across social media are hailing HBO Max's The White Lotus as this year's best TV show.
Written by Mike White - the brain behind School of Rock and Enlightened - the comedy-drama series focuses on guests staying at a luxurious resort called The White Lotus. Season one was set in Hawaii over the course of one week, and starred a variety of famous faces - including Connie Britton, Sydney Sweeney, and fan favorite Jennifer Coolidge.
Season two - also set in the fictional resort - takes place in Sicily, starring Coolidge plus an all-new cast that includes Theo James, Meghann Fahy, Aubrey Plaza, and Tom Hollander. As with the previous season, fans have been hooked on the themes of sex, betrayal, love, tragedy, and passion.

The second season might well and truly be over, but that doesn't mean the praise and memes are in short supply. In fact, many viewers have called the series the best show of the year.
One person couldn't contain their excitement, writing: "Can't get over this show - truly the best show on TV right now. I love that the show has created more to savor - moments when we all go/went back & watch some bits for obvious foreshadowing, or learn more on twitter. Genius in every way. [Season three] - hurry up already!"
"All I want to talk about is The White Lotus season finale and nothing else. One of the best episodes of television I have ever seen from one of the best seasons of television I have ever seen. This is the best show on TV right now," another user commented, after finishing the final episode.
"Can we please give props to the casting director(s) and their teams for the amazing casts that graced seasons 1 and 2? I mean, they hit two grand slams, and only got to keep one character," someone else chimed in, praising the teams behind the series.
"got up an hour early to watch [TheWhiteLotus] before work and it's the best decision i've ever made tbh. every single line is iconic, it's so beautiful, the ending is insane, WHAT A SHOW [sic]," another tweet read.
Though, it hasn't just been netizens that love the series - The Guardian columnist Rebecca Nicholson called it a "televisual chef's kiss" in her recent review, while Daniel D'Addario over at Variety penned a piece explaining why The White Lotus was the best show of 2022.
In fact, D'Addario said that the series is: "One of the first great works of screen art about the politics of sex to air in the years after the #MeToo movement began."
The show's creator has alluded to a third season in a recent Esquire interview, and even hinted at a possible location - telling Deadline: "We just turned in our last episode to the network yesterday, so it's hard to think about the next race. But if we did, I think it'd be fun to maybe go to a whole different continent. You know, we did Europe, and maybe Asia, something crazy like that, that would be fun."
I guess fans of the series will all have to keep their eyes peeled!
