The year is 1994, and on a cinema screen, a cartoon lion urges his cartoon lion dad to get up. The idea that everything was not going to be okay, creeping ominously in the dusty background, was one of the defining images of The Lion King, still seen today as one of the best animated films of all time.

When the live-action remake of the classic was announced with a trailer late last year, there were some skeptics, but Disney have just dropped another incredible trailer for their summer release of the Lion King remake, and this one looks even better than the last.

Here's the brand new trailer for the Lion King from Disney, set to be released this summer:

All of your favourite characters from the 1994 original, including Scar, Mufasa and your main character Simba (played this time by Donald Glover), and while the movie is quick to invoke old memories of the animated film, there's also a clear effort to add something new to the film this time around.

People, unsurprisingly, are excited, with many comments on YouTube betraying the excitement that some are feeling ahead of the film's release. "When Simba, Timon and Pumba appeared, the nostalgia kicked in. I want the movie NOW," said user Iana Edrianne Awayan, and the excitement was just as big on Twitter.

Of course, this is setting up to be a big year for Disney. Their subsidiary Marvel is set to release the highly-anticipated Avengers: Endgame later on this month, while moviegoers are also pretty excited for the release of the new Aladdin remake, which comes out on May 22 this year.

With all these movies, I'm going to have to get a membership for my local cinema, because I'm going to be spending a lot of time there. The Lion King remake is set to hit cinemas on July 18 this summer, and I don't know about you, but I'm as excited for this movie as Simba is to be king.
