There are certain film events that transcend the normal fanfare of Hollywood to firmly grab the world's attention.

Normally, we pick up on these movies quickly. Joaquin Phoenix's Joker movie, for example, which even from the announcement of his casting had people murmuring that we could be in for an instant classic. Then the first trailer dropped, and it appeared to confirm our suspicions that this would be no run-of-the-mill superhero movie.

 Here's the final trailer for Joaquin Phoenix's Joker:

The film has been lauded by most critics, and Phoenix is receiving Oscar buzz for his portrayal of the dark origin story of the Joker.

Martin Scorsese's The Irishman is another film that is already generating rumblings of possible Oscar contention.

Again, this started when the movie's quite astonishing cast was announced; Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci all together, and with Martin Scorsese at the helm, too.

Of course, much of the film's success will be predicated on how well the cutting edge technology being used to 'de-age' the actors works, and in the brand new trailer for the movie, we get our best look yet at a de-aged Robert DeNiro.

The full Netflix synopsis for the series reads;

"An epic saga of organized crime in post-war America told through the eyes of World War II veteran Frank Sheeran, a hustler and hitman who worked alongside some of the most notorious figures of the 20th century.

"Spanning decades, the film chronicles one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American history, the disappearance of legendary union boss Jimmy Hoffa, and offers a monumental journey through the hidden corridors of organized crime: its inner workings, rivalries and connections to mainstream politics."

And as you might have guessed, such an epic tale has an epic run time, too. The Irishman is set to run at 3 hours and 30 minutes, so make sure you're well stocked up and popcorn for what is set to be one wild ride.
