Courteney Cox has taken to social media to reveal that she will be returning and reporter Gale Weathers in the fifth installment of the hit horror franchise Scream.
Revealing the news to her 9.9 million Instagram followers, the 56-year-old Friends star posted a video showing Ghostface's mask and the caption "I cannot wait to see this face again."
In less than 18 hours, the post has already amassed over 7,900 comments from fans eager to see Cox reprise her role as the opportunistic reporter.
One Instagram user commented: "NO WAY IM SCREAMING!! YOURE BRINGING BACK GALE WEATHERS. 2020 JUST GOT A LITTLE BIT BETTER."
As another offered some crucial advice for Weathers: "Don’t forget to turn the safety off, don’t go back to check your hidden cameras, and don’t touch your bangs."

Cox first appeared as Gale Weather in the late Wes Craven's original Scream movie back in 1996, and later returned for the franchise's three sequels.
Per Deadline, the next Scream movie will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of the filmmaking group Radio Silence, from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.
In a statement to Deadline, Radio Silence said:
"We can’t imagine Scream without the iconic Gale Weathers and are so incredibly thrilled and humbled to have the opportunity to work with Courteney. We’re absolute mega fans of her work and we’re so excited to join her in the next chapter of the Scream saga!"

Cox will be rejoining her former Scream co-star and ex-husband David Arquette - who is returning to play lovable Sheriff Dwight "Dewey" Riley.
Commenting on his return to the franchise, Arquette told The Hollywood Reporter:
"I am thrilled to be playing Dewey again and to reunite with my Scream family, old and new. Scream has been such a big part of my life, and for both the fans and myself, I look forward to honoring Wes Craven’s legacy."
