Set your reminders for April 2026 as Euphoria is back, baby!
If it feels like you’ve lived several different lives since the show last aired, that’s because… you probably have. It’s been four years. Four. Long. Years.
There have been rumours, delays, chaos, fans spiralling online, but HBO has finally confirmed that season three it is happening.
On January 13, 2026, the network dropped a teaser announcing that the official trailer would land the very next day, immediately sending the internet into meltdown mode.
So what took so long? Well, it seems everything.
Production on the new instalment was originally meant to kick off back in 2023, but that plan fell apart thanks to the writers’ and actors’ strikes that brought Hollywood to a standstill.
Then came the devastating losses of actor Angus Cloud, who played fan-favourite Fezco, and producer Kevin Turen. It goes without saying that their deaths deeply impacted the cast, crew, and fans and their absence will be felt when the show returns.
And things weren’t calm behind the scenes, either, with rumours of tension between creator Sam Levinson and Zendaya circulating. At one point, speculation even suggested HBO might pull the plug entirely.
According to reports, the network was allegedly frustrated with delays, protocol issues, and general production chaos.
As things settled down, another delay came down to scheduling nightmares due to three of its biggest stars becoming full-blown movie stars. During the hiatus, Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi starred in practically everything, including Dune, Challengers, Anyone But You, and Saltburn. Apparently trying to lock everyone into the same filming window became nearly a logistical nightmare.
However, as an early Christmas present December 2025, HBO confirmed Euphoria season three would be back. Levinson has even teased it will be the show’s “best” yet.
So what do we know?
According to Levinson, season three jumps five years into the future dropping the characters into adulthood, chaos and all.
“Five years felt like a natural place because if they’d gone to college, they’d be out of college at that time,” Levinson explained. “We basically pick up Rue south of the border in Mexico, in debt to Laurie, trying to come up with some very innovative ways to pay it off.”
In addition, Cassie and Nate are still together, engaged and in suburban era. Cassie is still Cassie and is obsessed with social media and spiralling over how glamorous everyone else’s lives appear online.
Levinson went on: “I feel strongly this is our best season yet… I will say that Cassie and Nate do, in fact, get married. I’m confirming it. And I promise that it will be an unforgettable night.”
The cast is also expanding in a big way. New faces this season include Rosalía, Natasha Lyonne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Marshawn Lynch, and Sharon Stone(!!).
That said, not everyone is coming back. Barbie Ferreira and Storm Reid will not appear in season three, with Ferreira’s departure described as a mutual decision. And it’s not clear how the loss of Angus Cloud will be addressed. Fezco was one of the show’s most beloved characters.
Euphoria season 3 is set to drop on April 12, 2026.
