Since its release on December 26, season 2 of Netflix's psychological thriller series You has been getting quite the reaction on social media. Considering how well the first season was received, there was a lot riding on this new one. But it turns out that fans - at least those who have voiced as much on social media - are absolutely loving the new storyline and adventures which see Joe fall for a new woman.

As with all good shows on Netflix, plenty of fans couldn't help but binge the entire series within days.

If you happen to be one of these viewers, you will remember that scene in which Joe spots a neighbor through the fence, sitting and reading by her pool next to a stack of Kafka, Jane Austen, and Aldous Huxley books.

"This is just the beginning because this is where I had to be. Exactly where I had to be to meet you. There you were with your books and your sunshine. So close, but worlds away. I will figure out a way: a way to get to you. See you soon, neighbor," he narrates.

But it's never explained who exactly the woman is.

A lot of fans, however, have taken to social media to share a popular fan theory that she is, in fact, Joe's mother. Joe's mother is seen in flashbacks throughout the season and so the theory that she will finally be introduced to viewers seems a credible one.

If you haven't yet seen it yet, check out the trailer for season one:

"The neighbor is probably his mom. Also, Love is crazy. Might be crazier than Joe. She gave me Gone Girl vibes," one person tweeted. "Why are some people confused about the last scene? that woman/neighbor was definitely joe's mom. the hands were a dead give away... #YouNetflix," another wrote.

I guess we'll have to wait for some time yet to0 to find out once and for all if Joe's new neighbor really is his mom.
