Viewers have expressed their shock at the "unnecessarily gruesome" death scene that was included in the Jurassic World film.
Jurassic World (2015), directed by Colin Trevorrow, is a sequel to Jurassic Park 3.
The thrilling movie is set 22 years after the original Jurassic Park and revolves around a dinosaur theme park that is thrown into chaos after a genetic hybrid known as the Indominus rex escapes its enclosure and starts wreaking havoc.

Actress Katie McGrath plays Zara Young, the personal assistant for Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), the Senior Assets Manager for the park.
Young met a horrific end after the park's inhabitants invaded the area and attacked several parkgoers.
In the film, the young woman is snatched off guard and taken into the air by a pterodactyl, a large flying reptile, and is dropped into the water.
As she swims up, the reptile dives in and tries to take her out. But as one of the frightening pterodactyls attempt to retrieve her, nearly drowning her in the process, a Mosasaurus jumps out of the water and eats them both.

"Her death was unnecessarily gruesome," one person slammed, while another criticized: "I still think this is eye-rollingly over the top. Seriously, I get that dramatic deaths are a long standing part of Jurassic Park, but this is like something out of a Loony Toons cartoon."
Meanwhile, a third praised: "This is one of the most iconic scenes of the entire movie, gave me the chills."
A fourth remarked: "It's funny cause this would've probably scared me as a kid but as an adult I just found myself laughing, which I think was the intention when they made it so over the top and crazy."

Despite the controversy surrounding her character's graphic death, McGrath expressed enthusiasm throughout the filming process.
Speaking on set moments before the scene took place, she quipped: "I'm about to die, die in like a very cool way. They're gonna pull me up on that crane straight up in the air. There's like eight people around me, it's so that I don't really die because that's a possibility - my mom would be upset."
The actress, who did all the stunts herself too, added: "I've been pulled on a harness, dropped from a crane I've been dropped in the water, I've been held underwater, I've been pulled out of the water, dropped in the water again, held out of the water... and then finally eaten by a giant, giant underwater dinosaur."
