Since its Netflix debut last October, The Haunting of Hill House has been one of the most talked-about shows on the streaming platform. And so it was pretty inevitable that the supernatural horror series would be getting a second season.

This is the official trailer for season 1 of The Haunting of Hill House:

Anyway, fans will be delighted to learn that filming has now started on the horror series' second season, The Haunting Of Bly Manor, as revealed by the show's creator Mike Flanagan on Twitter.

"Seven years ago today," he began. "It was the first day of production on OCULUS. Today is the second day of production on THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR. Feeling very grateful to be here."

Needless to say, many of the show's very dedicated fanbase were delighted to hear the news:

"My favourite working horror director," one Twitter user responded. "You are so insanely talented, and I can't wait for Doctor Sleep and Bly Manor!"

"And I am very grateful you are doing this so excited, loved Haunting of Hill House," wrote another.

"I'm so excited to see what you guys have in store," a third wrote. "Good luck on the shoot, Mike."

The announcement that the anthology series would be returning - made back in February - also revealed that its upcoming second chapter, The Haunting of Bly Manor, would be based on Henry James' 1898 horror novella The Turn of the Screw.

And in August, the cast for the second season of the popular Netflix series was announced. Much to the excitement of the show's viewers, the new season will feature a number of fan favourites.

Victoria Pedretti who impressed audiences with her portrayal of Nell in the first season will be returning as the second season's lead character - a governess called Dani, who is looking after two unique children.

This is the moment Victoria Pedretti announced her role in the new season:

Considering, the cast and crew are only two days into filming, it will likely be a while before we can start streaming the new season. The Haunting Of Bly Manor is set to be released sometime in 2020.
